I originally left a 1-star review due to a very upsetting experience with a lifeguard who treated my family and me disrespectfully. However, I’m updating my review to 5 stars because of how the director responded—quickly, professionally, and with genuine care. They took my concerns seriously, offered a sincere apology, and assured me that they’re taking appropriate steps to address the issue. I truly appreciate how the situation was handled, and it shows that they value their members and strive to create a respectful, family-friendly environment. Thank you so much to the director Justin Davies and staff. I’m very happy with how everything was resolved and now highly recommend the Skagit Valley Family YMCA to everyone.

Prices increase every 6-12 months. They don’t even have an app, the YMCA app does not work with this location. You cannot see schedules, or pool schedules/availability or classes. Pool is full 75% of the time or off limits. They close super early on the weekends. It’s the only pool around for children so they completely take advantage of the public.

Place is nice and upkept, machines in the gym area are clean and easy to use, plates everywhere for the freeweight area, they let 13+ use the freeweight from 2:30-5:00 on weekdays, pool is nice, always clean and usually open, and stated obviously if not, basketball court and track are nice, there's always someone to play with and there's always basketballs to practice your shot. Overall a great place to go if your looking to get fit, lose weight or become more athletic

Last straw with this place. I'm homeless and made it very clear to Isai that I needed to cancel my plan because I could no longer afford it. I reiterated that I've been busy trying not to be homeless and forgot about this bill. He goes on to remind me next time to come in and cancel before I accidentally get charged again. Did he not hear me the first time? Way to kick someone while their down. Being able to rent lockers or offering towel service would be preferable. I dont mind paying for it, the fact they aren't even options is disappointing. Amazing facility though. Edit: actually, with time I've realized it's not so amazing. Especially given the budget. Great example of poor leadership and planning. Also, customer service spends too much time chit chatting while members wait to be helped. Completely oblivious to what happening around them. Downgraded from 4 to 2 stars.

Management put in new equipment and took out the dedicated flat and incline barbell benches. What sort of gym doesn't have this equipment? They should've added one more of each, as it was already crowded and not enough. Instead they put in squat racks. So, if you want to barbell bench, you have to use these. Meaning that you have to adjust the bar holder and bench. This 110% puts gym-goers at extra risk of injury. A dedicated bench has no added variables. Not only does it put us at risk, it adds a lot of extra time to your workout. The new layout of the floor doesn't make sense. It's very crowded and not everything has a proper spot. People move things around too much, and has gotten worse with the removal of the dedicated benches. Most of the new equipment isn't even used. I'm not sure what sort of gym doesn't have a dedicated barbell bench or two. Not to mention that stuff is always out of order. There are at least 3 different sets of plates on the floor, and are poorly organized, which means that it's hard to find matching plates when working out. It's clear that whoever made this decision is wildly out of touch with the gym community. Overall, the changes contribute to an already disorganized gym. Gonna have to switch gyms I think.
