This was our second time coming here and first time staying at the campground. The campground itself was great and maintained well and a perfect spot next to The Back Forty. One of my daughter's favorite parts of the weekend was going to the Craft Corner at The Back Forty. Paula, the activities coordinator there, was amazing! She was very friendly and welcoming and it made the experience more enjoyable. They had different activities to do throughout the day which gave a nice break from the water park.
Second visit, first one was perfect years ago at the suits. Second visit yesterday was beyond horrible. I live near Detroit and drove 4&1/2 hours in construction to get to the resort. We had a log cabin in the back fourth because they doubled their prices in the past 4 years. The cabins looked like no one had been in them for months nor cleaned in months. Only went back for the Jacuzzi and golf. The water was dark brown and smelled like rust after filling the Jacuzzi 3 times. Called the office they mentioned a high mineral content in the water and moved us to another cabin. This time the water was black and smelled like sulfer so bad we had to go outside. We went to the office and they couldn't find us another room and could not offer us any other solutions. All they kept saying was a high mineral content in the water. Well maybe you should let people know that in your advertising so they know they can't use the Jacuzzi or shower. We wasted two hours moving cabins and filling jacuzzi's and they didn't even offer use a free meal after giving us a refund and learning we had to drive all the way back home . So very disappointed to wait months , to save your money to drive a long way just to be so upset and disappointed that we just came back home.
Great place for certain families! We stayed from Monday thru Thursday. Not too busy probably because of spring break! The staff was amazing very polite and took care of us. Water park was fun kids loved it only complaint is it’s very slippery in some areas. Our room was amazing in the Thoroughbred suites! Only complaint is we booked a jacuzzi suite and first night it leaked all over the floor when we filled it up.mazing main level heated parking! Steak house was amazing food! A little pricey but well worth it!! Rustlers roost the pizza is probably the worst greasy pizza I’ve ever had highly do not recommend! Service was great though! Arcade was pretty pathetic lots of machines just ate our money and the prizes are just ridiculous! Overall though double jj resort is well worth the stay.
If you overlook the deferred maintenance, age etc., the resort offers very nice amenities and plenty to do. Do not expect modern anything or squeaky clean accommodations, but rather expect more of an old motel motif. People were super helpful and accommodating.
We stayed for the second time recently. We had a fun time but the hotel and water park are very run down and in need of major updates. We ran into some issues between our two rooms, including a nat infestation, uncleaned coffee pot and kitchen essentials and issues with the door locking. I will say we couldn't hear other guest while in our suite on the third floor which was amazing because there were a lot of large groups of kids. I wouldn't say the breakfast that is included in the splash package was worth it. We'd skip it next time and prepare our own food. And lastly the process of checking in for the pool and water park areas are very inefficient. We signed a waver before checking in and received a wrist band but had to have them check the waiver everyday and at each place verifying we signed it. So for two nights, three days we received 7 wristbands.... (three for indoor water park, three for outdoor water park and one to access the outdoor waterpark/back forty)
