Clean facility featuring heated pools, swim teachers, locker rooms and a dome for cold-weather sessions.
The aquatic center typically maintains its lap pool at approximately 80-82°F (26.6-27.7°C). A warmer instructional or therapy pool is also available, usually kept at a higher temperature of around 88-90°F (31.1-32.2°C).
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the pool facility are mixed, highlighting both positive and negative aspects. On the positive side, many appreciate the heated/warm pool water, clean facilities, and the availability of separate locker rooms. It's noted as a good place for swim lessons, casual swimming, and even community events like movies, offering both a large main pool and a small pool for children. Some staff are described as nice, and one reviewer specifically noted a lack of racial discrimination, with fun music often playing. However, several significant drawbacks are frequently mentioned. There are recurring complaints about having to share lanes during lap swim. A major point of contention is the pool director (Erin), who is accused of being passive-aggressive, dictating swimwear choices, enforcing strict opening times for some while showing favoritism to others, and contributing to lane sharing. Lifeguards, while recognized for ensuring safety, are criticized for using a harsh, accusatory tone when giving instructions, rather than a polite one. General dissatisfaction with staff conduct, described as lacking respect and kindness, is also present, with some connecting it to local politics. There are also reports of bathrooms not always being available for changing, and attempts to address these issues with city officials have reportedly been ignored.

I had to go on the city of American canyon website to pay for lap swim for 1 hr. I thought I was gonna be able to swim in my own lane, turns out I had to share. The outdoor shower was on and the bathrooms were open but not for changing. The pool was heated, which was nice
The water was warm and the music was fun and playful. The staff is really nice too. I very much appreciate that there were no problems, like there can be at other pools when people of color are swimming.
Myb youngest does his swim lessons here. Great staff, clean pool and facilities, and seperate men and women's locker rooms. You can do your swim lessons here, casual swimming during they summer, and they even do a few movies there. They have a big pool and a small 1 foot deep pool for little kids.
Is this a passive aggressive bully when pool director dictates what you can wear In pool, (my worn out swimsuit didn't make the cut), or when standing in cold rain she makes you wait until exactly 12pm before you can get in but let others in if she thinks it necessary. Erin and her friends will swim during community hours so that we have to share lanes. Unfortunately these are only a few issues, some so ridiculous it's embarrassing. We have gone to city planner and called, we were ignored. Likely, staff are a by product of American Canyon and its politics. Which lacks, creativity, progressive intelligence, respect and kindness. I waited 18 yrs too long to tell but had assets to protect and public reviews not available.
Honestly it's really fun, my only problem would be the staff. They're nice, but if someone runs, or takes steps and jumps into the pool, they would shout as if you were doing something really wrong. For example, one said "AYE NO RUNNING" instead of "No running please!!" And the same life guard also said "DON'T DO YOUR STEP THING MAKE SURE YOURE FEET ARE AT THE EDGE WHEN YOU JUMP IN", again instead of saying "Hey make sure your feet are at the edge when you jump in okay?" I witnessed these happen. Yes, I know they're trying to save lives, but they're saying it in the tone as if someone was doing something wrong. Over all it's a good place to swim, and if you don't want to get yelled at, play it safe.
