Indoor pool with a slide, plus an outdoor version and a baby pool.
The lap pool at Aquatics at JB MDL is generally maintained at a temperature of approximately 80-82°F (26.6-27.7°C). The leisure or recreation pool is often kept slightly warmer, typically around 85-87°F (29.4-30.5°C), to ensure comfort for all patrons.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? This facility offers a saltwater pool ideal for physical therapy, lap swimming, and family recreational time, with specific hours blocked for military personnel and their families. It features two indoor pools: a larger one (4-12ft deep) for laps and a smaller one (approx. 4ft deep) with a water slide and basketball hoop. An outdoor baby pool is currently under renovation, and there's an outdoor pool typically reserved for active military, though it's sometimes accessible to others when the indoor pool is closed. Staffing includes lifeguards, some of whom are noted for being helpful while others are less so, but a good number are on deck for safety. The bathrooms are generally clean, with both open showers and private options. A playground/pavilion area is also available for use. A significant recurring issue highlighted is the MWR's inability to consistently keep the pool open and running, leading to extended closures that negatively impact service members and their dependents who rely on swimming for exercise.
Reviews
It's a saltwater pool it's great for physical therapy. They block out times for lap swimming and military personnel. They even have time blocked out to bring your family. If it's your first time call find out the hours.
Is this pool only for military personnel? And what if civilians use it, how much does it cost?
Aquatics is great for kids and adults. There's 2 pools inside. The larger pool is for swimming laps (4ft -12ft deep) and the other pool (approx. 4 ft deep) is for the water slide and you can also play basketball. Some life guards are nice and will give you the tools to play with, others are either miserable or too lazy to get you the ball. Overall quiet staff but definitely a good portion of lifeguards on deck to make you feel safe. There is a baby pool outside but it's currently closed for renovation. Overall I enjoy coming here. It's also around the corner from the outside pool but that's only open to active military. But when the inside pool is closed, they will let people use the outside pool. The larger bathroom is clean and it has the open showers. There's also a private 1 person bathroom right outside the pool entrance.
Utilized the playground/pavilion area not the pool
This is a very nice indoor pool for recreational swimming and exercise, HOWEVER, it seems there's always an issue with the MWR keeping the place opened and running properly; causing service members and their dependents being unable to swim for extended periods of time. There are people on JBMDL-Fort Dix who are only able to swim as a form of exercise and the installation's continued failures to keep this pool open for us to use is completely unacceptable!
