About

Canyon Cliff Jumps is a renowned attraction located at what was formerly Action Park, now Mountain Creek Waterpark, in Vernon Township, NJ. It is famous for its exhilarating jumps from various heights into a natural, spring-fed pool below, offering an adrenaline-pumping experience for visitors.

The pool water at Canyon Cliff Jumps is notably cold, often described as frigid or ice-cold, due to being fed by natural mountain springs. Temperatures are frequently reported to be in the range of 50-60°F (10-15°C), making it significantly colder than typical recreational pools.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews offer a dual perspective, reflecting both fond nostalgia for the park's past as Action Park and positive experiences with its current iteration as Mountain Creek. Many fondly recall Action Park (late 70s-early 90s) as a magical, albeit dangerous, part of their childhood, acknowledging the high risks, injuries, and a few fatalities (while refuting exaggerated claims of 'thousands'). They describe it as a unique and thrilling experience symbolic of its era. In contrast, current visits to Mountain Creek are highlighted as safe and fun, with specific praise for attractions like the 25-foot cliff jump into a clear pool, decent food, and anticipation for future activities like the mountain bike course, underscoring the park's evolution towards modern safety standards.

Love the cliffs at Mountain Creek. There is nothing better than getting to the edge and looking over at the 25 foot drop below you. Build up enough adrenaline and jump down to the bottom into a crystal clear pool. It’s great watching people of all ages jump. Some scared as hell. One of the best attractions at the park.

I am rating this place as if it was still action park. Action park was a big part of my childhood. We visiting with parents in the late 70s early 80s with our parents, and again during the early 90s as the adults ourselves. Sadly, never got to bring my kids there. It was magical back then. Dangerous, but we knew that goin in. My group never had any injuries outside an occasional scrape. It was very symbolic of the age and I miss it terribly. Wouldn't trade the experience for anything.

Never been here, this was indeed called Action park in the late 70s and 80s. It was dangerous and people did lose their life, but it was not millions. It was more like 10, and many were from drowning because they didn't know how to swim. Tons of injuries yes. Times are different now, much safer.

Diana, "thousand's of deaths"??? You need to work on your research skills. Action Park was a cool place until...you make the decision to take the risk, you get hurt and it becomes the Park's fault. A few can ruin the fun for many.
