The swimming lessons are highly praised for being enjoyable, having great teachers, reasonable prices, and a good experience for children, with multiple recommendations. Conversely, the athletic center and gym equipment receive strong criticism for being severely outdated (likened to the 1960s), poorly maintained, with much of the equipment busted, dirty, rusted, and non-functional, reflecting a perceived lack of funding and commitment to facility upkeep.

They provide access to the pool through the city of Groton. My kids enjoy swimming lessons here.

Send both my kids here for swimming lessons because the price is reasonable. The facility is great and the teachers have done a great job so far. Would highly recommend them!

Using the athletic center is like stepping back into the 1960s with little to no maintenance or upgrades in the last 30-40 years. I have heard that UConn is simply not committed to providing appropriate funds to maintain their facilities at UConn or UConn Avery Point. The condition of the UConn Avery Point athletic center is a clear example of this lack of commitment. Oddly, UConn's athletics department (Storrs and regional campuses) lost $47 million in the last fiscal year. Where is all the money going? It certainly isn't going into the UConn Avery Point athletic center.

Most of the gym equipment is busted and dirty. They lack a full set ofplates, only a few machines actually work. Anything metal is rusted from being in the same room as the pool. This is my second and last time going. I'll be finding another gym. I don't care if I have to pay. Equipment that works is worth it.
