What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for Payette Public Pool reveal a mix of experiences, highlighting significant issues with communication and consistency. Several patrons reported a lack of transparency regarding a strict, unadvertised dress code, leading to denied entry or removal without refunds. The process for enrolling in swimming lessons was described as frustrating due to slow, vague, and conflicting information on pricing (ranging from $25 to $40 per lesson, deemed expensive) and schedules, despite generally polite staff and a well-regarded instructor. While the pool received praise for its cleanliness, comfort, and overall appearance, some visitors noted instances of rude female staff and inappropriate comments made in changing areas. Common suggestions for improvement included providing more lounge chairs, adding a snack stand, and consistently maintaining a warmer water temperature, as it is often reported as too cold for both seniors and children.

Just a heads-up to future visitors: Payette Public Pool enforces a strict dress code, yet as of now, there is no visible signage or prior notice about this policy. If your swimwear is deemed “not family appropriate,” you will be asked to leave and no, they do not issue refunds. It’s a public pool, not a private club, and families deserve transparency. If you’re going to take people’s money, the rules should be clearly communicated upfront. Consider this your warning so you’re not caught off guard like we were.
I was really hoping to enroll my children in swimming lessons at this pool, but unfortunately the experience trying to get clear information was frustrating and ultimately disappointing. I first reached out by email to get details on pricing, schedule, and what the lessons included. It took quite a while to hear back, and when I did, the answers I received were vague—just that lessons were coming up and we could be added to a waitlist. No specific dates, no firm pricing, and no real details. When I called the pool directly, the person I spoke with was very kind and much more helpful. She quoted $25 per lesson for group instruction, which is already quite a bit more expensive than other local options. That's $200 for the 8 group lessons you sign on for, per child. Still, we were trying to make it work. Eventually, I was contacted by the swim instructor directly, who was absolutely lovely and much more thorough in describing what the lessons would cover. However, she quoted a completely different rate—$40 per lesson—which brought the total to $320 per child for a session of 8 group lessons. That’s over double what many other pools in the area charge, and more than I found even for private one on one lessons elsewhere (Which we ultimately went with for our 3 children.) In the end, the biggest issues were the lack of transparency, the conflicting information from different staff members, and the long delays in communication. I spent several weeks trying to figure this all out, and during that time, I could have had my kids learning to swim elsewhere. I’m giving three stars because the staff I interacted with were generally polite and well-meaning, and the instructor seemed great. But overall, this pool really needs to work on communication, consistency, and setting realistic pricing for the area.
June 4th I went to the Payette pool with my kids, all females working that day, when pool was closing one lady in particular was rude signaling kids to get out 20 minutes early (she had tattoos on her arms). My wife mentioned when going to the bathroom to change, multiple workers were in there “cleaning” (all watching one girl clean) just inside the toilets. Ladies made ridiculous comments while doing so. I’ve always enjoyed coming while two younger gentleman have worked they have always been respectful and super friendly to my family.
The pyette City pool is amazing they are doing such a great job, it's clean it's nice, it's comfortable. I can take my grandchildren and they loved it! It definitely needs more lounge chairs. Other than that maybe a snackstand. Orletta spring our own chairs in. Thank you for all the work you've done it looks beautiful.
The temperature is always fluctuating, but usually remains too cold for seniors and when you see children not wanting to get in because it’s too cold that speaks volumes. Turn up the heat to make it tolerable. 84,degrees is not too much to ask for
