Not close to anything so if you're going, you're going because you like to drive. Nice picnic tables at each campsite. Hot springs are great but with no cool water around they aren't an ideal daytime activity unless the air temp has dropped. Easy drive. Like, your civic can make it. ...unless it's wet; then AWD could be handy in a couple places.
Two fairly small pools after 94 miles from Winnemucca, with the last 20 miles is washboard and dirt road! Water temperature is around 90F, but pools have algae means the water may have lots of bacteria. Nice cement picnics tables and single pit toilet. But picnic tables are not covered from hot sun and lots of biting deer flies. The algae and deer flies are big turn off otherwise a beautiful place!
Nice hot water, beautiful pools and surroundings. Definitely roughing it. Camping is free and the facilities show it - no TP in the vault toilets, and a ridiculous amount of flies. No potable water. Campgrounds are fairly out in the open, and it can get windy. Still gorgeous, vast, and relaxing!
Nice hot springs and campground. Refreshing even on a hot day. About a 30 mile long dusty road (from the highway) to get there but worth it. There is a vault restroom there but no water available that I recall. The hot springs, campground and restroom were exceptionally clean. There the week after labor day, and it was not crowded at all. 105° on our day though, so come prepared.
Our first Hot spring on this road trip and it was amazing. Easy drive to right next to the spring. Clean water with the perfect temperature. Love how you could feel the warm water from the ground. The one pool is not warm enough for winter time.
