About

Clean recreation center featuring indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a gym and a track.

The aquatic facilities at Fairfield Recreation Center maintain specific temperatures: the lap pool is kept at approximately 82 degrees Fahrenheit, the warm water leisure pool ranges from 86-88 degrees Fahrenheit, and the whirlpool is typically 102-104 degrees Fahrenheit.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews for the pool/rec center highlight numerous significant issues, primarily concerning its administration, facility maintenance, and operational policies. Key complaints include erratic operating hours, particularly the early closure of the outdoor pool due to alleged staff shortages, and inconsistent or overly strict rules, such as requiring adults to be in the indoor pool with children, even older ones. Many users find the management to be uneducated, unhelpful, and demonstrating a lack of initiative, citing instances of poor customer service, refusal to address simple requests like installing towel hooks, and prioritizing socializing over work. Facility-wise, concerns are raised about the pool being over-chlorinated (with fears of poisoning), the sauna lacking its steam function, and the bathrooms being disgusting and in need of replacement. Some reviewers attribute these problems to the facility being government-run, leading to neglect and dilapidation. Calls are made for privatization, reporting health code violations, engaging local government, and even considering a class-action lawsuit over the water quality.

They have some of the most uneducated people in management who seem to be delusional on what they are managing. The apparently "mistakenly allowed" me to create a family membership, and were so mad about it. Their mindset is that their membership is an aid program with extremely strict requirements that can't be allowed to pass even when it's their fault.

The pool is over chlorinated (may give people chlorine poisoning) along with the hot tub. The Sauna used to have a water container to pour on the rocks to steam it up like a normal sauna. No longer. The bathrooms are disgusting and the showers need to be replaced. The problem is that this is run by the local government. Any government owned facility like this will suffer this type of neglect and dilapidation.. We need to round up a group of local investors and privatize the rec center. Then we need to market it and ensure that it runs at a profit. Right now it’s running at a deficit because bureaucrats don’t know to run a business at a profit as long as taxes on the people pay their paycheck. 3 years ago one friend asked the management of the rec center to please put hooks up near the jacuzzi so our towels could remain dry while we soaked & used the sauna. Then just the other day I offered to do it myself and even pay for the hooks. It would take me less than an hour to do the whole thing. And the current manager, I spoke to told me he would take care of it. Several days later, as I stood, waiting for him to finish socializing with another manager in her office. He finally turned and acknowledged me, and I asked him what kind of progress had been made on our request for simple hooks in the Jacuzzi area for towels. He began with “well, I haven’t really had to…” The woman in the office jumped to his rescue as they both obviously have had time because instead of doing it, they’re socializing almost constantly. She said “don’t worry I’m on it.” I said “it’s really no big deal. I can go home and get the wood right now and put the hooks in and install it on the wall. It’ll be done within an hour. I’ll even pay for it myself.” “No,” she said “we got it. “ Three years later, not only do they not “got it.” It appears someone needs to clean house as entitlement has set in and control issues dominate. You see, the only solution here that I can see is to buy the rec center and turn it into something that would be a real asset to the community. Right now there’s more health code violations than I can mention so I’m going to report them to the health department. Then I’m going to speak to Mayer Connie Boyer to see if she will help us. Also if they don’t change the water to saline or brome instead of chlorine I’m considering suing them for poisoning me and everyone else. It deserves a class action lawsuit to set precedent so other rec centers and swimming pools will have to follow. It’s up to the community not those with control trips and lack initiative to serve the community. Those days are over folks. Have you noticed?

This is a great pool, the administration is a little bit weird. They're closed at random times. If you pay for the indoor pool, you have to be in the indoor pool with your kiddo. They don't let kids swim indoors by themselves. And so forth and so on. They get on to kids instantly, without looking for an adult or trying to talk to an adult first. It's a little bit frustrating. For my kiddo who's really sensitive, it's very hurtful.

I don’t like the new pool rules they added. One of the lifeguards I noticed gets onto my kids a lot. They would tell the children that they can’t swim in the inside pools without an adult,( DISCLAIMER ! MY CHILDRENS ARE OLDER THAN 7 and…THEY ARE IN THE POOLS FOR YOUNG CHILDRENS (closest pool to the locker doors)Let them have fun inside!

I'm really disappointed about the schedule. Even though the rec center is open until 8:00 p.m., the outside pool closes at 6:00, apparently, because of a shortage of staff. There's not a shortage of supply of people to work in Fairfield, so they must not be paying very well. That is sad to hear, so I don't know what to do about it.
