Stayed with a group. The maintenance and cleaning were that of a 1-2 star hotel. If you have an exterior door check it to make sure it is shut. Ours wasn’t even latched when we arrived. Tons of spiders in the room. Layer of dust on all the surfaces. Cobwebs in all the corners. Rust in my shower. Unknown substance splattered under the mirror in the bathroom. Handprints on the headboard. Closet door was off the track. Fridge door could hardly be opened. Missing paint in lots of places and burnt out bulbs. Not what I was expecting from a resort. The public bathroom had poop smeared down the toilet and wasn’t cleaned until I asked staff. Some fun resort amenities like the indoor water park, paddle boards, kayaks, walking trails. Patio you can sit out on but tons of mosquitoes and no bug zappers for some reason. Fortunately the large amount of spiders and webs indoors and out help with the flying bugs. Didn’t try the restaurant or bar as we used the catering service which was standard quality but the food wasn’t always hot even when first brought out. They did offer to spray my room, but I declined due to health reasons. I guess they only spray 1 level a month for bugs so avoid the bottom level especially in the fall. If they would up their cleaning game and maintenance I would recommend. But I don’t as it is right now. Overall I was disappointed for the price and extra resort fees

We rented a four bedroom cabin this past weekend. I’ll never go back! In theory it was supposed to sleep 13. Apparently, if you have kids that can sleep in an upper bunk doubled up on a twin bed. The “queen “ beds are barely fine for two adults. Since we were all of a “mature” age we knew not to plan on using upper bunks. We never tried to fold out the sleeper bed in the living room , thank goodness! The living room can barely sit six adults. Same at the “dining area”. The bugs were so terrible we called to see if they could bring something as we couldn’t go outside. They charged us $120 for a resort fee but their pool was closed. I asked for a refund on the resort fee. They said I could cancel and they’d refund our money. I said ok but then he said we didn’t get to stay and we should go somewhere else. We had 7 adults driving in from different areas and at that point it was too late to move. At that point , it was too late to relocate. We called to see if they could bring some spray or knock down the bug webs into the entry and the entire deck. A guy showed up with wasp spray ( which we needed ) but they should do a better job of knocking down the webs of the nasty little bugs that were everywhere! He said that’s the way it is everywhere! We had near relatives deliver bug zappers and spray but I’ll share a pic in the living area this morning! I’ll never go back!

This resort was a GREAT place for us, our 4 kids and seven small granddaughters. The full suite was PERFECT for a gathering place for all of us for meal times. The kids loved the beach, water park, paddle boats and train ride. The park with a shelter was close enough to enjoy a couple of times, too. The staff was super friendly and patient with all of our kiddos. I highly recommend this place!

Iowa’s Best-Kept Secret! We just spent the first weekend of June at this incredible “outdoorsy” resort, and I honestly can’t believe more people don’t know about this place—it’s Iowa’s best-kept secret! If you’re into biking, kayaking, fishing, boating, or just relaxing in nature, this spot checks every box. The grounds are absolutely beautiful—lush, green, and peaceful. We had deer walk right up to our campsite, totally unbothered by us. It felt like a nature lover’s dream. There are boat docks available if you bring your own boat or SeaDoo, and rentals are offered if you want to get out on the water without hauling your own gear. The kayaking and fishing were perfect ways to spend the day. Whether you’re in a cozy cabin or RV camping like we were, the setup is excellent. We were shocked to find the RV park nearly empty—quiet, private, and super relaxing. It we had the whole place to ourselves. The resort also has a fun indoor water park, perfect for the kids (and honestly, for us adults too when we wanted a break from the sun!). There’s a small restaurant on-site, but be aware the hours are limited. Luckily, DoorDash delivers from Hy-Vee, so you’re covered if you forget anything or need to restock food. We can’t wait to come back. If you’re an outdoor enthusiast looking for a peaceful, activity-filled escape, this place is a hidden gem. Book it before the secret gets out!

We stayed there for a family reunion and the at the end there was a lot of hidden fees that was not covered to us and they were not very nice about it. We were supposed to have buffet style breakfast and supper and it was not tried to Chargers, full price for kids under 10, which is ridiculous. Overe all we will not go back ever again.
