What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviewed location generally receives high praise for its clean, quiet, and scenic beaches, featuring calm, shallow waters, gorgeous sand, and beautiful sunsets. Guests frequently commend the friendly and helpful staff, good fishing, and a wide array of rental options including boats, kayaks, and jet skis. The military ID requirement, while a restriction, contributes to a less crowded environment, and good COVID-19 safety measures are in place. However, significant downsides include a particularly negative experience at a 'tiki bar' brunch, described as having poor service, overpriced and low-quality food, and no atmosphere. Additionally, one visitor reported car damage in the parking lot for which no responsibility was taken, resulting in unexpected repair costs.

Great small beach! Very calm, shallow sound waters with floating play areas. Water only gets to about chest deep within the swim boundary. Showers, bathrooms, rentals from paddle boards to pontoon boats. Sand is gorgeous and water is warm. Beautiful sunsets. Military ID required as it's on base.
We stood around like confused tourists waiting for someone — anyone — to acknowledge us. After what felt like an eternity, a kind lady finally appeared and let us know it was $15 for a “complimentary” mimosa (yes, you read that right) and access to a sad table of picked-over fruit and lonely slices of bread. No servers, no signage, and absolutely no vibe. It was giving “awkward potluck meets overpriced awkwardness.” I’ve had more enthusiastic brunches in a dentist’s waiting room. Next year? I’ll bring my own mimosa kit, set up on the hood of my car, and still come out ahead. Do better, tiki bar.
The beach is clean and quiet, the sunsets and sunrises to die for. The staff are always courteous and friendly. I love being able to walk the docks and dip my feet in the sand, The fishing is usually pretty good, too! They have jet skis, boats, and other items for rent.
Need ID to get on the base. But this means it isn't as busy as other public places. Staff is very friendly. They have COVID provisions in place. Wear mask inside, one at a time. All life jackets are dunked in disinfectant and kayaks are sprayed down after use. The pavillion next to the office is closed but there are others nearby. We hired some kayaks cheap. Paddled to the island less than a mile to the East. Great for kids playing in the shallow water, exploring and even fishing for salt water catfish from the sand bar.
We came to visit our military friends to celebrate my son's 5th birthday. We rented a boat for the whole day. We had a great time staff was very helpful and nice. Unfortunately, damage to my car was done while my car was parked in the parking lot. I would expect adequate behavior from soldiers and their friends and leave their information so we can contact them and the insurance company. Now I have to be responsible for the cost of repairs.
