About

Mustin Beach Pool, located at Building 3201 behind the Mustin Beach Club on NAS Pensacola in Florida, is a popular outdoor recreational swimming facility operated by Navy MWR Pensacola. It typically offers a family-friendly environment with a large pool, often including amenities like a shallow end and diving boards. The pool is generally open seasonally, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, catering to military personnel, their families, and authorized patrons seeking aquatic recreation.

Specific pool temperatures for Mustin Beach Pool are not publicly advertised. As an outdoor pool in Pensacola, Florida, its temperature is subject to ambient weather conditions and is generally comfortable and warm during its operating season in the summer months.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews consistently highlight a highly negative experience at the pool, primarily due to overly strict and inconsistent enforcement of rules by lifeguards, particularly with swim tests. Many patrons describe the swim test process as unnecessarily intense and poorly explained, with children failing tests here after passing at other facilities like the YMCA. Lifeguards are frequently described as unfriendly, unprofessional, and rigid, with one specific lifeguard, 'Adin,' repeatedly called out for rudeness and arbitrary rule enforcement, even leading to families being asked to leave. The perceived excessive rules and constant whistling/yelling create an unwelcoming atmosphere that deters children from wanting to swim, contrasting sharply with the more positive experiences reported at alternative pools.

Our experience at this pool was disappointing. The swim test process felt unnecessarily intense—almost like the kids were being prepared for military training instead of just trying to enjoy the water. The staff seemed unsure of the rules, except for one person who appeared to be the only one with any authority or understanding. The lifeguard we dealt with wasn’t friendly and didn’t offer any explanation when my child didn’t pass the swim test. I had to go out of my way to ask for clarification. What’s even more frustrating is that we just joined the YMCA, and my child passed their swim test there without any issue. The whole setup at this other pool feels more like a deterrent than an invitation to swim.

Great pool but the rigidity of the lifeguards is so tight it takes away from being able to have any fun here. My child is scared to come swim here bc the life guards are constantly blowing their whistles and yelling at everybody it seems unnecessary. Too many rules! Not referring to just running which is obvious safety rule but beyond that they are just to strict.

It’s very sad this happened to our family. This guy called Adin one of the life guards his very unprofessional and rude. This is the second time he treated us like we did something to him. Last week we went to the pool and he was on the front he kept saying to many different things, we asked him we will be there at the pool with our kids and if he wants to do the test we will be fine he said okay. And later on he said that no jumping or going to the slide we said ok. Once we got to the pool spent about 30 some minutes he came and told my husband your shorts don’t look like swim shorts and he told him it’s and he just gave him nasty look. Today me and my 2 kids went and the girl in the front told us are they going to the big pool or the slide 🛝 I said they’re not. If they do she wants to have them swim test and I said that is fine to do the test if it’s the rule, she was that’s fine. Here’s Adin came after 40+ minutes and they were a few people were there to but he told my kids to do the testing again I said ok. My son goes first and he told him going here to there and he was talking him while he’s doing it all the sudden he said you failed and I asked what is the reason he said my son stopped swimming he was talking to him so what did he supposed to do? Whether this guy he didn’t like us or he needs to be trained well. Today we got told to leave because of him. And we’re the only ones. I am not going back to that pool again Corey and Whiting field has the most friendly staff.
