The YMCA typically maintains its lap pool at a cooler temperature, generally around 80-82°F (26.7-27.8°C), ideal for swimming laps and vigorous water activities. A separate warm water pool, often utilized for therapy, family activities, or swim lessons, is usually kept at a more comfortable temperature, typically ranging from 88-90°F (31.1-32.2°C).
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The majority of reviews express severe dissatisfaction, citing numerous issues across different aspects of the facility. Common complaints include extraordinarily rude and unprofessional staff, with specific incidents involving lifeguards nitpicking children (including an autistic child) and a referee threatening to fight a parent during a children's basketball game. Users reported poor facility management, such as half the pool being closed for aerobics and slides being unavailable without prior notice, leading to a poor value for the full price paid. Cleanliness was also a major concern, with one reviewer describing the front desk floor as 'disgusting' and implying broader hygiene issues. Additionally, there were reports of billing discrepancies, where users were charged for cancelled services and faced unresponsiveness from staff when attempting to resolve the issue. One historical review noted a positive experience of learning to swim there in the 90s.

What a horrific experience. Drove over 45 minutes from Schaumburg to take my kids to the indoor pool on spring break for something different. The lifeguards were extraordinarily rude. They nitpick my children for every little thing they did, including my autistic son. Half the pool was closed for aerobics which they did not specify on the website so after paying full price to get in, only have the pool was utilizable. My kids couldn’t even go on the slides, which was obviously disappointing to them. We stayed for a half an hour and left after being treated like complete crap would definitely not recommend this facility.
Very unprofessional non profit will steal your money and refuse to answer your calls afterwards. Had my son in early morning care, cancelled the service, they confirmed it would be cancelled. Haven't been there all month and still recieved a charge of $345. Now they won't answer or call us back. So I'm stuck filing a dispute with my bank, maybe even fraud charges against them.
Learned how to swim here in the 90s. Am a strong swimmer to this day.
If I could give this establishment zero stars I would. This the most unprofessional establishments. Today at a children's basketball games I witnessed one the referees arguing with a parent and threatening to fight the parent. The male ref had to be held down by another co-worker from beating one of the mothers the team members. The director of the program seem to have no problem with the ref and he was allowed continue to work the rest of the game. This did not feel like a safe environment for myself or any child. The staff is clearly unqualified to be around children. Avoid at all cost.
Was at the front desk counter waiting for someone to greet me and noticed over the counter the floor was so disgusting and looked like it wasn’t been cleaned in months. If this is how they take care and clean for their staff can only image how the rest of the facility is clean and kept up with sanitizing and the pool chemicals. I did leave to transfer to a different YMCA. It truly was disgusting with dirt as you can see in the photos beware of this place!…
