Clean swimming facility with activities for kids and adults, plus friendly staff members.
The main pool at YMCA Mountain View Pool is typically maintained at 80-82 degrees Fahrenheit. The separate teaching pool is kept warmer, usually around 88-90 degrees Fahrenheit.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews highlight a stark contrast between the facility's excellent staff and its deteriorating physical infrastructure. The staff consistently receives high praise for being professional, kind, dedicated, helpful, and inclusive, going above and beyond to ensure safety and a welcoming environment, especially for those with special needs. The pool is valued as an affordable and essential community resource, with some noting that the 'transgender situation' was overblown. However, the building and pool are widely criticized for being old, crumbling, and experiencing frequent closures due to maintenance issues (e.g., lack of hot water). There's a strong, repeated call for a new, modernized building with expanded amenities. While some appreciate the value and many services, a common complaint is the limited pool hours.

I love this pool! I do not remember anything INAPPROPRIATE about this place! Hmmmm! Maybe people are being a little judgemental? I am a woman born a female still a female! Are people really afraid? I did not get that vibe at all. Smile! BE GRATEFUL and remember! It takes all kinds to make a world! HUGS
Perhaps if the entire building and the pool were not crumbling before our eyes, more people would like to work there. The past two weeks the entire place has been closed due to lack of hot water. It always seems to be something. I give the building 1 star. Like it or not, we need a new Y with a new building and a new pool and there is no getting around it. The staff that has stuck with the Y through thick and thin are great, however. They are helpful, kind and dedicated. They get 5 stars, so an average of 3. I did not know how else to do it. Please understand how good it would be to get a whole new building. It could be a place, with a nice lounge area where folks, especially teens, could just hang out and exercise or swim if they wanted. If a conference room were built it could be rented out. There could be indoor and outdoor paddleball courts and a splash area for the little ones. Please people, unless you are against having fun and getting healthy, look into the actual financing and not what your friends and neighbors tell you. Try not to consider just your needs but those of future generations. In the big picture, it is worth every penny.
We are fortunate to have a pool and gym space in our community that is relatively inexpensive. The staff works hard, and is very pleasant in their interactions with the public. One of the life guards stayed to coach a young kid who was learning how to swim the other day. The locker room is clean and they have private, curtained dressing rooms if you are shy in the locker room setting. The whole transgender situation was blown Way out of proportion! My only complaint is the schedule of When the pool is open... Not enough hours. But I guess that's the way things continue to be in our service industry. And it takes 2 life guards, a back up office person, a reception desk clerk and another for the gym activity... just to be Open. People want a new Jazzy pool... good luck with manning it.
This is a little cool but it has a lot of heart. I can't recommend it enough. I work for summer camp for people with disabilities, and every summer they let us have the pool to ourselves once a week to best accommodate the needs of our campers. They are so amazingly helpful and kind and always go above and beyond the Call of Duty to help our campers with special needs get in and out of the pool. The staff here are friendly and have a sense of humor. Also it seems like they offer an inordinate amount of classes and services here
The staff are professional, well trained and truly looking out to ensure that kids are safe and everyone feels welcome. The pool is a lifesaver for my family and I during gloomy winter months and on hot summer days! Thank you!
