I was referred to the Maine Strong Balance Center (in Scarborough) after experiencing some dizziness issues and falls. I cannot express enough how impressed I have been and continue to be. My Physical Therapist, Michael Cyr, has conducted incredibly thorough testing and follow up for my imbalance and has changed my thought process of “just becoming an old lady” to having confidence in my ability to play with my grandchildren without fear of falling. Everyone has been kind and professional. If you are referred here, I highly recommend without any hesitation and suggest you run, not walk, to this Balance Center to regain confidence in your ability to function the way that makes you happy!
The entire staff are so caring and knowledge able. I have experienced so much progress with my body’s sense of balance after my replacement of both hips, both knees, Vertigo on and off for years before attending here. They helped me to be rid of my vertigo, hopefully forever. My scoliosis caused my legs to be imbalanced after my surgeries. Their knowledge and care has helped me so much with my walking and lessening my falling dramatically. I will forever be grateful to you, Maine Strong Balance Center!!!
Okay, true confession, I was strongly tempted to give an anonymous zero-star review, but only because I dread my beloved Maine Strong Balance Center in Scarborough being discovered as the absolute gem that it is and being overrun by crowds once word gets around. The truth is, five stars doesn't even begin to do justice to MSBC Scarborough. The experience starts with Emily, the best office manager in the business, whose warmth and kindness and sincerity make each individual client feel like they're at the center of the day, that they've been eagerly awaited since the last visit and will be missed until the next. As PT has become an integral part of my existence, I've had the privilege of experiencing multiple therapists over time, and they have been invariably outstanding, knowledgeable and professional but also intuitive, personable and accessible on a level that fosters a supportive, responsive connection between therapist and client that allows for truly individualized and effective treatment plans. I'd be remiss if I didn't particularly shout out my primary therapist, Lauren St. Pierre, whom I intend to hire on a 24/7 basis as soon as I win the lottery, so don't bother trying to schedule appointments with her, she's all mine, lol. Seriously, Lauren is my Gold Standard among therapists, the absolute best I've ever had. Her extensive knowledge is matched only by her empathy, but it's her watchful eye, making sure that each repetition is performed with proper form and range, that truly distinguishes her and makes her therapy so effective (if occasionally exhausting). She's done immeasurable work in keeping me going, and I cannot express enough my appreciation and gratitude for her efforts. So sure, sign up for Maine Strong Balance Center if you must, although I'd much prefer it as a hidden gem ... but if you do go, please stay away from Lauren, I need my bookings!
Best physical therapy place in Maine. Extremely friendly and knowledge staff that puts the needs of their patients above all else. You will not find a better place anywhere!! Jason (the owner) works with patients as well as running the business which is a refreshing change to what I have seen in the past. He genuinely cares about the people that visit his practice. Props to Sarah and Heidi as well, both are amazing at their jobs and super friendly. If you are going anywhere else you are missing out on the best quality care money can buy!! Update: 05/04/24 - Returned for PT following a total knee replacement. Working with Mike Cyr and Jason. Nothing has changed. Both of my therapists are amazing, knowledgeable, and kind people. I can't say enough good things about this place. Come here for all your PT needs.
I have had vertigo almost every month since I was tboned back in 2019. I have missed out on sooooo much of my life since that day. I have been to probably NO less than 100 vertigo related appts since the car accident. I have not been able to get rid of this vertigo and my depression has gotten worse and worse over the years. I saw a specialist is BOSTON two weeks ago NO help. Then with the help of the secretary at this office I was seen last week. They have been so friendly and actually give me true hope I can get my life back. The PT I saw she was amazing. She listened and was great!!!! She also released a muscle that's been wreaking havoc and I felt the best I have felt in over a month! I was able to wash my hair (it had been 2+ weeks)(lots and lots of dry shampoo)and did NOT get vertigo after!!!! THANK YOU ALL!!!!!!!
