Great little park to camp and get away. Still close enough to most major attractions in the area that it’s not too far of a drive. Don’t miss the sunsets down by the boat ramp! They seem to be a bit loose on their rules though. Campers were getting away with having more vehicles on site than allowed. We also had someone park a boat in front of our site, making it difficult to get out on check-out day. Park workers had been driving around multiple times, so you can’t say they didn’t know about it. Despite that, we do plan to return. One major suggestion is that they need to level the dump station. As of this posting, it’s graded downward, so you won’t be able to get everything out of your tanks. Another suggestion is that they provide individual private changing areas for the showers instead of the one communal changing area. The park is also very dog friendly. Many campers could be seen out walking their dogs.
The staff was attentive and friendly. We had a family fun day here. The staff made numerous rounds to collect trash, which helped keep the area clean. There is a grassy field in front of the shelter which can be used for games and other activities.
We stayed 1 night and we really enjoyed the park; I would absolutely return and stay longer. We were at campsite 138 which is a very nice site, under a spectacular oak tree, but very far from the bathroom so take that under consideration. The park is very clean, not as much bits of trash that we usually find. The campsite was spacious enough to feel fairly private. The sites that are in the more-wooded area feel tighter although some of those sites have fantastic views and on a hot day it would be nice to be in the shade. There is a fair bit of poison ivy. Boat launch is nice and there's ample parking. Bathrooms are clean. Nice docks to enjoy views Several excellent picnic areas in different locations, one is under large beautiful trees by the boat launch, one under trees in the field. Many beautiful tent sites and many glamping tents right on the water! Dog friendly as long as they are leashed. Beautiful trails along the water and a few beaches with jetties so young children can swim safely. What a wonderful find!
Super fun take your kids fishing even sponsored by the Parks and Recreation department. There is a pool (for a fee), dock, boating launch, playground, grills, restrooms, camping (for a fee). Definitely a nice park.
Nice and quiet campground. We did alot of fishing from the docks and beach. The sunsets over the water were beautiful. They have trails and plenty of space to ride your bikes. We will definitely bring our kayaks when we go back.
