Nice pool & lifeguards, but the staff at the gate & concessions are impressively slow (e.g., struggling to use the register, make change, we’re about halfway through the line twice as we got it’s been five maybe six etc). Also, they flip-flop on the rules day-to-day, sometimes saying you can skip the line if you have prepaid tickets, and other times, stating you need to wait in line for no reason. So, getting in unnecessarily & painfully slow especially in the summer heat with children.
Went on a Thursday night and did not seem crowded but loooonnnnng lines to the big slides. Did the short lazy river. Parking lot was full. Who designed this place? Boring and recommend going to a regular pool or beach. Save the stress and skip.
Soldiers Field Swimming Pool is a fantastic spot for a family outing. While it's not overly large, there's plenty to keep the kids entertained for about two hours. They allow you to bring in folding chairs and a small cooler, which is a good idea since their provided chairs fill up quickly if you don't arrive early. The facility includes a changing station and showers, which are quite convenient. We attended the first session from 11 AM to 3 PM, and it wasn't too crowded. There was a long line at 11 AM, but it cleared up around noon. They offer food like Pasquale’s pizza and bottled water for $5, which is reasonably priced. Ice cream is also available. Overall, it's a great place to enjoy a summer day with the family.
Got here at 11:45 on a Thursday. They open at 12 noon. We waited in line for 1 and half hours waiting to get in. Crying kids!!! So upsetting 😡 Such as horrible way to to start the day. Management said, sorry we only have one register. You would need to talk to the city.
Lots of silly rules they enforce. My baby daddy wasn't allowed to hold my 2 year old daughter on his lap and go down the 1 mph lazy River. When asked why they said she would need to have her own tube so they let us borrow a life vest but she was obviously too small to fit in a giant tube by herself. The life guard said to us if it was my decision "I would let you guys go down the lazy River holding her on your lap but my boss would get really mad" no problem with the life guards here but there's something really wrong with the way this place is set up. It has potential to be a really good water park. I'm 5 months pregnant so I was looking forward to going to the lazy River but unfortunately you can't do that as a family if you have a 2 year old. Wish they told us that when we got the tickets. Also another backwards thing is they have all gender locker rooms? Very bizarre. The showers are also extremely small with just a few hooks. So you'll probably have to walk your 2 year old daughter butt naked in front of all kinds of people. Other than that did she have fun? Yes. The splash pad was great but we would of had just as much as a fun time at the free splash pad down the street from where my mom lives.
