About

Public swimming pool with lifeguards that's temporarily closed for repairs.

Specific temperatures for the pools at the Deseret Peak Aquatic Center are not readily available on their official website or public listings. Typically, lap pools are maintained at a cooler temperature suitable for exercise, while leisure pools are warmer for comfort and play, and hot tubs are kept at a significantly higher temperature for therapeutic relaxation.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews for this facility are quite mixed, highlighting both positive aspects and significant areas for improvement. Many patrons enjoy the fun, family-friendly atmosphere, and appreciate the large, clean, and well-maintained swimming pool. Positive mentions include generally reasonable prices (though the spectator price was noted as high by one), clean bathrooms, working soaps, and friendly staff. The presence of a concession stand and an option to eat personal food in a shaded area outside the gate were also appreciated. However, serious concerns were raised, most notably a severe safety incident where a 5-year-old child nearly drowned due to an unresponsive lifeguard, prompting a civilian rescue and leading to a dismissive response from management. Other significant complaints include extremely poor communication regarding schedule and hour changes, with updates often made last-minute or not at all online, resulting in wasted trips for families. Patrons also reported unhelpful or rude staff attitudes, particularly at the gate, and felt their feedback (via email or Facebook comments) was ignored or deleted. The snack bar is frequently criticized for its lack of substantial food options beyond candy and soda, despite a strict no-outside-food policy. Minor issues included a scarcity of shady spots and grassy areas for sunbathing. In conclusion, while some find the facility enjoyable, critical issues related to safety, communication, and customer service significantly impact the overall experience for many.

Super fun and prices are reasonable. Would be nice if they had more grassy areas for people to sunbathe but that’s not really a huge deal. The swimming pool is huge, appealing to the eye and everything is overall very clean and well kept😉

Had a great time. The price for a spectator is too high, bathrooms were clean, soaps were working, felt safe,

This is a great, family friendly place to swim. The lifeguards are great and the staff is friendly. Although food is not allowed past the gate, there is a concessions stand with many options including a healthy menu. If you don't want to pay for food inside the pool, you can eat your own food in the shaded grassy area about 20 feet outside the gate next to the playground.

We have been coming here for the past few years and it has been okay. Rarely do we find a shady spot which can be frustrating. But over all no major issues, but nothing to write home about either. Just an average pool in my opinion. This year we decided not set up our pool due to my schedule and how busy I was going to be this summer. So I bought punch passes for my kids and their friends. The last 2 times we went they had next to zero items available for purchase at the snack bar except candy and soda. Yet there is policy about no outside food or drink allowed. I get the policy and I have always made it a point to purchase from the snack bar to help support the facility. And it’s nice to be able to get my kids something to eat after swimming. I emailed Tooele County Parks and Rec last week about it asking if there was something that could be done about either the policy or the snack bar supply. So I had snacks or something beside sugar to feed my kids after swimming for hours. It of course went unanswered. Now the fun part. We have been planning on coming this week for over two weeks since it my last week off during my kids summer break. I checked the schedule last week and again on Tuesday because I knew country fan fest was coming. There was no change to the hours on the website or Facebook page. Made plans to take my kids today Thursday to use up our punch passes since I am going back to work this weekend. I get to the pool after stopping and asking two different people about it being open and where to enter and park. When we get to the gate of the pool we are turned away. The lady that was working the gate immediately had an attitude when I asked about the punch passes and why it wasn’t posted online. She says it was updated this morning (4 hours before opening) and that it’s only 4 days with a snarky tone. There was one gentleman there that actually seemed to care and spoke to me like a person. But from what I could tell she was the main person and just had a terrible attitude. I honestly felt bad for the guy working with her. So we leave upset of course because we have had plans to swim this week for the past two weeks and nothing was ever updated until the day of. I took my kids to Pratt which is fine but I had to pay for that when I had already paid for Deseret Peak. Then to take the cake I comment on their Facebook post about how ridiculous it is and how unapologetic the lady at the gate was. Instead of addressing their lack of timely communication they just delete the comment. Next year we will spend our money elsewhere and maybe they appreciate their local customers. For future patrons I would not trust their hours posted. If you don’t want to waste your time call ahead before going because they have an issue updating their hours or schedule in a timely manner. The only reason it should be updated last minute or the day of is in emergency or mechanical situations. Not for somethings that had been planned and scheduled for months. Also, make sure you pack a snack for your kids. Because at this point there is nothing available there.

From reading another review with this pool, The life gaurds need to get on their game and do their jobs!!! (except for one man) Well, My 5 year old daughter was drowning in the pool RIGHT UNDER the life guards feet and she just stood there!!! This random person pulled my daughter up, as I wasn't fast enough to get to her because of the overcrowdedness of people being in the way. I called the facility and complained and the they said it's not their fault. I won't be going here again. Train your life guards. better yet, HIRE NEW ONES!!! More teenagers don't count!! I don't recommend at all.
