Wow! I haven't visited this aquatic center since it was built and man was I impressed. You can't really call it a pool or even pools because it's mammoth. Disability ramps provide access to everyone. I didn't know the prices or hours because I only went to watch my grandchildren at swim lessons which is through the Y. The water, however is like bath water, very warm. So I plan on finding out open swim hours, great for seniors who get chilled easily. Afternoons in Hollister, of course, entertain devilish winds so do bring warm wraps and towels but once you're in the pool you're golden. There is an area with table seating and umbrellas and outdoor grass. Very beautiful and very pleasant. I was not happy about the high taxes and so many bonds at the high school but if the aquatic center is any indication of how they are using the funds I do feel better now.
Sparkling long course pool with shaded bleachers!
It’s a terrible experience at SB swimming facility. Waisted lots of money to learn swimming section after section for two years and my son still can’t swim properly. Even spent $500 for summer camp so my son can had a chance to swim more hours but that didn’t help improving his swimming. Instructors are nice but they are not well trained to teach kids. They have look at the instructions for what step to do next. My son kept getting new instructor almost every time he came to class. I took my to Morgan hill and taught him myself for just 1 summer and he was able to swim as I expected. It’s cheaper for in door warm water and no time limit
My child has been doing swim lessons for summer for a couple of years now & we never had a problem until this year. There are some instructors who do not know how to talk to the children especially if a child may not understand as most children do when we brought it up to them we got attitude & disrespectful talking back. The instructor would make loud comments about my child not listening even to the point he cried. Theses girls who are instructors need to be taught how each kid is different doesn't matter if a child has a disability or not there should never be rude comments or actions when teaching a child! Very sad that this is something my kids love to do during this time of year but now I would never recommend another parent to even join it.
