This place is amazing. Very affordable. Staff is wonderful every time I go I get a warm hello. Equipment is in great shape for the most part. The building is kept clean. It's a million times better than a standard gym. The pool is warm and sauna is a godsend. They have a pool table too. Plenty of classes to take and several areas for children. Really couldn't do much better if they tried. Happy I joined.
My family and I have been utilizing the YMCA for over a year. We love the classes and child care and we have always had pleasant experiences. We have tried yoga, barre, Pilates, cardio conditioning and strength, and Zumba 10/10. Instructors take time to help you with equipment and learn techniques like. Front desk is helpful and courteous. Other class members are supportive and friendly. I always leave in a better mood after our visit. We utilize the gym 4/7 days.
UPDATE: I asked the employee to pass along my information to her supervisor, Amanda. I also emailed Amanda directly and have not received anything back. If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. My husband and I reactivated our membership with the Saleeby YMCA (part of the Sandhills YMCA network) yesterday. He was closer to the Ingram location today after work and decided to go for a swim. When he arrived, the membership coordinator (Jackie, I believe) could not pull him up in the system, presumably because we had just re-enrolled the day before and our information had not yet populated in the system. She also mentioned that because his home branch was not the Ingram facility, he really shouldn't be using the Ingram facility, despite us having a nationwide membership. Ultimately he was denied entry. I called our home branch and they refuted what the membership coordinator at Ingram had told my husband, and advised that he can, in fact, use that facility. I then called Ingram and spoke to the membership coordinator myself, who 1. spoke to me very condescendingly, and 2. seemed to be making things up on the spot. She kept saying that the nationwide membership is just a "perk" if someone were traveling and needed to use a branch outside of their home branch. She also said that people from our home branch try to use the Ingram facility all the time because "of course they would, our facility is much nicer." She could never cite in any official policy where any of this was true. When I asked her why she wouldn't have just called our home branch to confirm his membership since he wasn't coming up in the system, she stated that she doesn't work at our home branch, so why would she do the extra work to call and confirm his membership? I did my due diligence and easily found on the official YMCA of the Triangle website that "On average, at least 50% of your visits must be to your home YMCA." When I told the membership coordinator that we enrolled yesterday, she scoffed and said "See? So you enrolled just yesterday and are already trying to come use our facility". There is no policy that states that the day after enrolling, we MUST visit our home branch only. Overall, this employee was unprofessional and clearly was not citing any policy behind her claims. She simply did not want us using the branch where she worked despite there being no policy against it. I called our home branch and they stated they would get in touch with the Ingram location to ensure that only factual information and policy would be communicated moving forward. Please retrain this employee or hire someone who doesn't have a superiority complex from working a job that probably doesn't pay much over minimum wage.
The yoga class was very good. There is plenty of exercise equipment and an indoor lap pool
