About

The CRC Pool, located within the Costantino Recreation Center at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA, is an Olympic-size swimming facility. It serves as a resource for lap swimming, open recreation, aquatic classes, and various water-based activities for the campus community and public.

The pool at the CRC is typically maintained at a comfortable temperature between 80-82 degrees Fahrenheit (approximately 26.7-27.8 degrees Celsius).

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The college offers a highly praised Upward Bound program for high school students, providing financial incentives for good grades, summer college classes with dorm stays, elective credit, and educational trips. The college's pool recently underwent renovations, with some reviewers noting its cleanliness and availability for public and student use, featuring both a lap and diving pool. However, community access to the pool is a recurring point of contention, described as limited, costly (requiring quarterly passes and parking fees), lacking discounts for seniors/alumni, and sometimes unreliable due to staffing issues. While the overall gym and pool area is often lauded as inclusive and non-judgmental, many reviews cite significant maintenance problems in surrounding areas, including dirty windows, grimy shower curtains, broken equipment (like saunas and swimsuit spinners), and a general lack of upkeep. There's also conflicting feedback on water temperature, with some finding it warm and others very cold, suggesting it may cater more to specific user groups like the swim team.

Love how this college offers an Upward Bound program that pays high school students for their grades...A 2.5 GPA is worth $15, 3.0 GPA is $20, and 3.5 GPA or higher is $25. You do grade checks every month. Then, get paid at the end of each quarter. They also have a summer program, where you take day classes at the college for 2 1/2 weeks (bus transportation is available at the high school). Finally, you stay for 3 total weeks, Sunday to Friday, in the college dorms. If you finish all you class work you earn 1 whole elective credit toward your high school transcript and get to go on a two day trip. Which you take a nice charter bus and stay in a hotel. This year they went to Eastern Washington to see CWU in Ellensburg and Spokane to see Heritage College.

The pool recently got a facelift and is open to the public and students to swim as well as the diving pool although no diving board. The pool got a renovation last year sometime and looks great, it’s also super clean. Only complaint is that the sauna’s are not operational. Hours are posted on their Instagram @recevergreen

Used to LOVE this pool back in the day. But it's been closed to the community forever as the aquatics program seems to always be at the bottom of the budget list. The only way you can now swim here is if you join the Evergreen Swim Club (similar name but no affiliation with the college), enjoy swimming at 5 am and paying $50+/mo. not including parking fees. Sad, sad, sad.... UPDATE: The pool is now open again to the community on a very limited basis. And it's a great pool. That's the good news. Sadly, it ends there. The college admin hasn't changed its laissez-faire ways and continues to make what should be simple complicated. The only "affordable" option is to purchase both a quarterly swim pass and a quarterly parking pass and hope the lifeguards will be staffed and show up so when you arrive you haven't spent time and $ for nothing. Oh, and no discounts for seniors or alums as in the past. Be prepared for very cold water as the college caters to the swim team. So sad that a state college that we support through our taxes no longer seems to care about supporting its community.

The water is warm and as such is unsettling to me but people might enjoy . There is a lap pool and a smaller pool for diving free swim. . I really wouldnt pay money to access it as a member of the public and no longer a student. That being said whole gym and pool area at the evergreen State college is non judgemental and is a very positive safe friendly inclusive and non intimidating space. So it is a great option for some one who lives nearby and is just starting out on their fitness journey. However to park on campus is three dollars cash

Nice clean pool and the lifeguards are friendly. However, the area has not been very well maintained. Some of the windows are obscured with grime. The place is dark, dingy and stained. Moss appears to be on the inside of the walls in places. And the swimsuit spinner has remained broken for weeks. Worse, the shower curtains are disgusting and the shower area fairly grimy.
