About

The Tenino Quarry Pool, located at 399 W Park Ave, Tenino, WA 98589, USA, is a unique public swimming destination. It was created from a former sandstone rock quarry and is known for its deep, clear, spring-fed waters, offering a natural and refreshing swimming experience in a picturesque setting.

The pool's water is naturally spring-fed and unheated, resulting in refreshingly cold temperatures. While specific daily temperatures can vary, it is generally described as being in the range of the low to mid-60s Fahrenheit (around 15-18°C) even during the summer months.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? This highly-rated recreational area offers a diverse experience, centered around its unique quarry pool. The quarry pool, which is natural and untreated, is described as very cold but refreshing on hot days, with depths reaching 70-80 feet, a waterfall, and two diving boards. It's fully fenced for safety. For those preferring treated water, there's also a chlorinated splash pad and a two-foot wading pool. Beyond swimming, the site is complemented by an attached city park featuring playgrounds, rock climbing, bike ramps, as well as a historic museum, schoolhouse, and hiking trails, making it suitable for a full day of activities. Entrance fees are considered very reasonable/affordable. Facilities include restrooms (though some reviewers felt there weren't enough, especially for changing), outdoor showers, cabanas, lounge chairs, and picnic tables. Parking is ample. A key point of concern for some visitors is the policy prohibiting life jackets on the quarry pool (lake side) and the requirement of a swim test, with questions raised about its effectiveness in ensuring safety for all swimmers.

Went on the grand opening day and had a great time. The quarry pool is super cold, feels like river water. Deepest depth of the pool is about 70-80 feet. You can swim out to the waterfall, there are 2 diving boards. The quarry pool is not treated water and the splash pad and 2 foot wading pool is chlorinated. The quarry pool has a fence all around the perimeter, having little around feels safer. The womens restroom had 2 stalls, one with a toilet and one with a shower. There is a drinking fountain outside the restroom and 2 outdoor showers. They had 3 port-a-pottys there as well but I don't know if that will always be there, due to it was grand opening. Not enough bathrooms in my opinion due to people changing clothes/ using the restroom. But understand there working with the space they have. There is 2 cabanas, one is actually covered. About 6-8 lounge chairs near the cabanas. There is about 5 picnic tables on site and a small grass pad near the corner of the splash pad, a grass pad in the fenced quarry pool area, and a grass pad near the restrooms There is lots of parking and their city park is there too, so with kids this could be a fun day experience, swim and play on the play structure or rock climbing or bring a bike and ride the ramps. I would recommend bringing a picnic blanket, maybe some camp chairs, a water bottle to refill, sunscreen, and snacks.

Really fun! The quarry pool and waterfall are super charming! The water is cold, but it's really nice on a hot day. The entrance fee is very reasonable.

Apparently you can't wear life jackets on the lake side which doesn't make sense to me but okay. From my understanding they only want strong swimmers on the lake side so they'll give you a swim test to determine if you qualify to be on the lake side but even if you pass the test who's to say an accident won't happen. There's people who aren't strong swimmers that may be able to pass their swim test.

I love the quarry. Such a nice place to go for a swim on a hot day. Super affordable. They play oldies on the speaker and it’s just a nice place to spend some time in the summer. Happy it’s reopened
