Nice pool, reasonable entry fee, but extremely absurd policies and overly strict staff. It’s almost laughable. The pool wasn’t crowded and we even had a parent in the pool to supervise. My kiddo met the height requirement but they wouldn’t let her on the not very scary slide and thought she was a shade under for height. My child can swim well for what it’s worth and regularly uses slides at public pools in CA-I doubt the SD insurance regs are more strict than in CA, which was the proffered excuse. I’m enclosing a pic of the slide at midco vs the one we regularly use in CA (same slide height restriction FWIW.)
I really enjoyed my time at Midco® Aquatic Center! They have so many different pools for all ages and swimming levels. Whether you’re looking to relax, swim laps, or just have fun, there’s something for you. The place is big, super clean, and there are lots of changing rooms, which is a huge plus. It’s also very affordable, which makes it perfect for families or anyone on a budget. And I have to say, the staff were all so friendly, helpful, and just wonderful. You can tell they care about the guests. That said, there were a couple of things that could be better. The water felt colder than expected, especially when you’re not actively swimming. Also, they have frequent pool breaks, and sometimes it feels like you just got in when they ask everyone to get out. It breaks the flow a bit, especially if you’re trying to relax. Still, I’d totally go back. It’s a great spot overall. Just be ready for a few chilly moments and some out-of-the-pool time.
Absolutely terrible place. I would give it zero stars if I could. I took my wife and kids there this past weekend. My niece, who is 2, wanted to wear her life jacket and we were told by a lifeguard she couldn't because "We want to encourage parents to be close to their kids, so life jackets aren't allowed."...WHAT??! That's insane. Next, my wife gets yelled at for trying to accompany our oldest up the stairs to the slide....Yes, you read that right. Only one person can be on the entire spiral staircase at a time. Don't even think about being at the bottom of the single small 16 foot slide to happily catch your kid in your arms because that will get you yelled at also! Goggles for little kids? Forget about it! Our oldest (7) was on the lily pads and got yelled at for wearing goggles. lol, this place was a joke. Do yourself a favor and go swimming anywhere else but here...even your own toilet bowl would be more fun than this place.
I thought this place would be packed on a Saturday afternoon in March but now I know why it is not! 1: No hot tub! Which they need cuz the pool water is not warm. 2: the water in toddler pool & lazy river is COLD. My kids age 2-13 didn’t want to swim in there so they only swam in the “warm water pool” which has LOTS OF RULES. 3: We all had burning eyes the rest of the day after swimming here for two hours. 4: the lift chair by the pool poses a hazard. The foot rest sticks out into the walkway in the perfect position to trip someone. Will we come back? No. And based on reviews- I believe many others feel the same way. Which is too bad cuz they could make a lot of money in the winter with repeat customers.
10/10 would recommend. my kids have so much fun every time we come, AND it's affordable. If you are visiting from out of town this is an awesome attraction for Sioux Falls! The whole family will enjoy it! From slides, to basketball hoops and lazy rivers, warm water with ramp as well as stairs. On the other side they have diving boards and lap swimming. I will say the chlorine can get strong, but now more than any other pool. The life guards are very serious about the rules, but safety first. And if you're an introvert that just wants to let the kiddos swim for a bit and get that energy out, this place is GREAT for people watching!
