Aquatic center featuring slides, a whirlpool, diving boards, and water playground for kids.
The main swimming pools at the Hillyard Aquatic Center are generally maintained at a comfortable temperature of 82 degrees Fahrenheit (approximately 27.8 degrees Celsius).
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The Hillyard Aquatic Center is highly praised by visitors, primarily for being a free public facility that offers a diverse range of attractions for all ages. Patrons consistently mention the zero-depth entry pool for toddlers, a lap pool, diving boards (referred to as 'ski jumps' by one), various water slides for both children and adults, a kids' climbing structure, and a whirlpool. The facility is generally described as well-maintained, clean, and adequately staffed with lifeguards, also featuring accessibility options for the disabled. While most experiences are positive, with many expressing intent to return, there were minor criticisms regarding the infrequent upkeep of bathrooms and a specific negative incident during swim lessons where a parent felt an infant was unfairly removed from class.

Visited with my granddaughter and I'm amazed that this entire place is totally free to the public! The pool has zones suitable for all ages. It starts from zero inches deep for the toddlers to sit in and splash with a parent, and gradually increases to a small lap pooll with two diving boards. There is a small kids climbing structure and slide, and two longer slides for the big kids. There is even a cool whirlpool section. There are lawn and concrete rest areas on both sides with shaded and sunny areas too. All maintained wonderfully and with plenty of life guards and safety staff. Kudos to the city of Spokane for prioritizing this kind of facility.
On Saturday, July 2, 2022, I took my daughter to the Hillyard Aquatic Center for the first time. I can sum up our experience with a question: What’s not to like? Admission is free, the facility is clean, and there are several attractions. Water slides for both young and old, a whirlpool, diving boards, and lap swimming are all available. We set out our towels on the grassy area and just had a really nice (and refreshing) time. We will return this summer.
My infant took swim lessons through Spokane aquatics centers. She was getting a little fussy, crying- although not a crazy amount more than normal. The teacher we had that day made us take her out of the water because she said she didn’t want her to be afraid of water. But she wasn’t….she just made an excuse to make us leave the lesson early. And now we will never get those 11 minutes back $$. My daughter was not causing a commotion and this should not have happened.
I liked this place, especially the ski jump, very cool feelings when jumping from the ski jump, slides are also cool, the queues are not particularly large, as well as a lot of places where you can swim, there is also a whirlpool (a small pool with a whirlpool) as well as this place is suitable for children, for them there are special slides, there are special stairs for the disabled, I will once again return to this wonderful place, advise everyone!
