About

The Eisenhower Aquatic Center, located at 2351 E Cornell Ave, Springfield, IL, is an indoor facility operated by the Springfield Park District. It features a 25-yard lap pool and a leisure pool with amenities like zero-depth entry, a water slide, and interactive play features. This year-round center serves as a community hub for swimming lessons, fitness, and recreational open swim.

While specific daily pool temperatures are not consistently published, the lap pool is typically maintained at a cooler temperature, around 78-80°F (25.5-26.7°C), ideal for lap swimming. The leisure pool is generally kept warmer, usually between 82-86°F (27.8-30°C), to ensure comfort for recreational use and families.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for this facility are mixed, highlighting both positive and negative experiences. Many praise the swim lesson program, instructors, and aqua aerobics classes, noting helpful and nice staff. However, there are significant concerns raised, including allegations of ageism in class enrollment and a serious safety incident involving patrons spraying bug spray, which staff reportedly did not address. Facility observations include high temperatures, wet pool decks requiring appropriate footwear, and its suitability for year-round swimming, though it may not be a favorite for all children.

Don’t plan on taking any classes there, especially if you’re older the override you for all the younger ones. I signed up for a class a week ago and they had plenty of spots and conveniently today two days before I test for the class they were conveniently calling me to let me know that they were full and that I could take it out of town at some other place that’s an hour away Nothing like a little ageism going on.

Really HOT, even in winter. Not bad for swimmers but bring A LOT of water even as a spectator. Pool deck and spectator walk way got super wet. Wear or bring slides or flip flops or boots! Not our kids favorite pool, but one of the better pools around for year round swimming.

Both my boys took lessons there. I highly recommend the program. The instructors were incredible with all the kids and encouraged them to keep trying. Everyone in the building was very helpful and super nice!!

Here for a swim meet, our 8th year. Another set of parents sprayed raid bug spray all over outside right next to other parents and small children. I personally have asthma and my heart immediatly started racing and im having trouble breathing. I went to talk to staff and they said they can't do anything. Who in their right mind goes to a public place and sprays poison all over the ground and in the air with children around? We had to move but the smell is blowing. This is awful and super unsafe.

I am enjoying aqua aerobics classes there. It's an awesome place to learn swimming and water exercises. Our aqua aerobics mentor is awesome. I think one must surely try using the pool.
