Branch of a long-standing organization providing programs and facilities for families including a pool.
The specific temperature of the pool(s) at the Monett Area YMCA is not publicly listed on their official website or general information pages. However, YMCAs typically maintain their pools within a comfortable range for a variety of activities, often between 80-84°F (26-29°C), suitable for lap swimming, recreational use, and water fitness classes.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the YMCA are mixed. Positive feedback frequently praises the professional, helpful, and friendly staff across various activities, including the pool and roller skating. Many found it a great, beautiful, and reasonably priced venue for family events and birthday parties, noting lots of activities and a fantastic party room. However, significant criticisms emerged regarding the pool's 'absurd' and 'family un-friendly' rules for children, such as a strict swim test that doesn't allow goggles and a restrictive adult-to-non-swimmer ratio. Other complaints include closed amenities like the water slide and diving board, and concerns about inappropriate 'stripper music' being played frequently during skate nights, which some reviewers felt made the environment unsuitable for children.

Family un-friendly! DO NOT bring your kids here to swim! The rules are absurd. Kids can only swim if they are either 1) within arms reach of a parent, even with a puddle jumper; or 2) pass a “swim test,” which consists of swimming the length of the pool without goggles and then floating on your back for 10 seconds. When my 10 year old (who has been swimming independently for 3 years) finished the swim test, they said she failed because she was “struggling” (she kept popping up to wipe her eyes, because who swims without goggles??). They also only allow 2 non-swimmers with an adult at a time, so good luck if you have more than 2 kids who can’t pass the swim test! Good grief. They also had the indoor water slide and diving board closed with no explanation, which had been one of the big reasons we came there in the first place. We left after 5 minutes and went to the Carthage YMCA pool instead, where they just let kids jump in and swim. Revolutionary concept, I know.
My daughter and I were in the area waiting for the Amish (I drive Amish taxi). After we dropped them off at the reunion we had time to kill. We we're pleased to discover the YMCA just 2 miles from our hotel. The pool employees were professional, helpful and very sweet. We were pleased to find that they had roller skating in the evening. They too were very professional and helpful. If we return to this area we will definitely go to the Y.
Loved this beautiful YMCA. What a wonderful place for the family to put on a Birthday, which is what we did. Kids had a great time. Staff was fantastic. Party room great. Cost reasonable. Lots to do.
I want to improve the 2 stars. Because there is only one problem with it place!? It's skate nights, an osum place, and fun. But the employees play straight stripper music most of the night, like more than 60% of the time. I know that I can see that the employees have control. But that's what ther choosing to play. Sow, just be warned that inappropriate songs are playing all night here. Really, not a kids zone because of this. If you fix this problem, I will change this!!!!
