About

Woodland Pool, situated on Mitchell Street at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, SC, is an outdoor recreational swimming facility. It primarily serves military personnel and their families, typically operating during the warmer months of the year, providing a venue for leisure swimming and aquatic activities.

As an outdoor recreational pool, the temperature of Woodland Pool naturally fluctuates with the ambient weather conditions. Specific, consistent pool temperature data is not publicly available, suggesting it is likely an unheated facility that depends on environmental factors for its water temperature.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews for various pool facilities indicate a mixed experience. Positives frequently mentioned include clean pools, attentive and friendly lifeguards and staff, a family-friendly atmosphere with features like slides, dedicated kiddie areas, and permission for toys/floats, good music, and reasonably priced snacks. Some found the day pass to be a good value. However, significant concerns are raised regarding operational inconsistencies, such as limited and unpredictable hours (sometimes only 4 days a week for open swim), inaccurate online schedules, and frustrating unannounced closures that lead to wasted trips and question the value of monthly passes. Minor issues like outdated seating and 'meh' changing areas were also noted. One review briefly lauded a fun family trip to Fort Jackson.

Clean pool, attentive lifeguards, plus there's a slide. They need new chairs so cover it with a towel and you'll be good. Plenty of covered seating. Family friendly with great music. Changing area was meh but they always are. Pretty sure they sell snacks. $5 day pass. Overall, way nicer than I thought it would be.

Going to the pool is one of the fun things I do with my children and grandchildren for the summer. now they've gone up there on their prices and limited their hours to 4 days a week for open swimming. This makes it difficult to decide to do their monthly rate of $25 a month per person because I can't guarantee that I'll be able to get there that many times with the hours as limited as they are. And the hours are advertised wrong on the web page.

I absolutely love the staff!! The life guards and staff are super friendly to my family and everyone I see go there!! They allow toys and floats! There is a kiddie area fenced in! They do adult swim the last 15 minutes of every hour!! Their snacks and drinks are very reasonably priced!! Definitely recommend!!

Makes me mad to get the whole family together then get there and find it’s closed and it says it is open. Waist of my time what’s the point of having this on this base, if it is never open! We have a million dollar golf course but we can’t even have a functioning pool!
