What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews for this facility are highly mixed. Positive feedback frequently mentions polite and helpful staff, prompt responses, a friendly atmosphere, good location, and a nice sauna. Some users appreciate the access to free weights and mats and have highly recommended it, even referring others. However, a substantial number of reviews are negative, pointing to significant issues such as poor cleanliness (dirty, wet, and musty changing rooms, dirty mats), outdated and cramped equipment, a warm gym, and excessively loud music. Several reviewers express dissatisfaction with the high membership cost, especially when compared to the perceived quality of the facilities and equipment. Serious concerns about rude and allegedly racist staff are also raised, along with restrictive pool and gym schedules that disproportionately benefit the elderly. Membership policies, specifically regarding adult children on family plans, are a point of contention. Some reviewers believe the YMCA takes advantage of being the sole 'decent' gym in the area, neglecting upgrades and customer service, and suggest it needs a major makeover, new management, or even closure.

In just the little time I’ve been a member and prior during the application phase etc; I’ve been so impressed with how polite and helpful the staff has been. Super prompt responses via email as well. Everyone seems to genuinely want to help and goes out of their way to be polite to my daughter and I. Love the location and the ample equipment etc. Highly recommend. In fact, have gotten 2 people referred since I’ve joined and there may soon be a third. Keep up the good work guys!!!
This YMCA is not very clean. The changing rooms always seems wet and feels dirty and smells musty. The entire gym is rather warm as well. The equipment is very outdated and crammed together. Only 1 of each machine. Distorted mirrors that do not go low enough to see your squat form. 1 very old smith machine that doesnt go to the floor so you have to put a stool under it to deadlift. Free weight section is tiny. This gym needs a serious makeover and the actual "gym" part needs expanded. Very worn down equipment. Some plates are busted up and have sharp pieces. Leg curl machine isnt made for people with small legs. The mats by the cables are always very dirty. Perhaps get rid of it and hang them on the walls like PF does and people can get them down as needed to stretch and do abs and clean them when they are done. Music is always blaring and I can hear it over my headphones. For paying 40 dollars a month, you would think they would actually expand the "gym" section. PF is only 25 dollars a month and all of their equipment is in tip top shape. So it can't be a money issue. If I lived close to a PF, I would go there instead. I think this YMCA takes advantage of being the only decent gym in the Muncy area so people have no other choice to go there. They neglect their equipment because people will continue to pay reguardless and not say anything about the conditions.
love coming here when I’m visiting the area. the gym has a pleasant, friendly atmosphere and plenty of equipment. i don’t use gym machines so I particularly appreciate access to free weights and mats in the main area. the sauna is nice and feels amazing after a workout!
Rude staff. I asked where a room was and the elderly woman at the desk with white hair and glasses just points with her finger down the hallway , as a new member Imagined I would have gotten some sort of tour just like every other gym you join. Screw this location, get nicer and better staff. And the manager is a waste of a man, he’s basically just a walking vessel.
Do we start with their ridiculous pool and gym schedules which only benefit the elderly? The water slide being closed so my kids can never use it? The completely rude and racist staff? Or do we go with the fact the I and my family pay well over $500 a month for a family plan for this establishment (that hasn't upgraded it's equipment since opening) and my son was asked to leave because he's over the age of 18 and is part of the family plan but he's apparently needing his own membership even though he lives in the house and helps pay for said membership. $500 a month these people are taking from us for a gym membership that primarily only he uses because his kids can't ever get into use the pool because it's never open. And on top of that whenever he brings his black wife in the staff is incredibly rude to both of them and follows them around as if they're doing something bad primarily, middle-aged white ladies that are working. This place has and continues to only benefit the rich white people in this area and their undeserving kids that take up the entire weight room so they could take pictures of themselves in the mirror. This place is a joke and needs to be put under New Management or shut down immediately.
