The pool is an integral part of the university's recreation and wellness infrastructure, often associated with the McKay Gymnasium and Cannon Activities Center.
The McKay Pool is a heated facility, ensuring a comfortable water temperature for swimmers throughout the year. While a specific, publicly stated temperature is not consistently available, heated pools of this type typically maintain water temperatures in a comfortable range, often between 80-84°F (27-29°C).
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The facility receives mixed feedback, generally positive for families (with designated shallow ends) and workouts, and one user praises it as "the best." However, common criticisms include its small size, non-standard lap pool dimensions (39 yards), and inconvenient or limited hours, which require advance booking. The limited community access is acknowledged as understandable given that it is a free service.
Reviews
Family hours are good for the kids. They rope off the shallow end. Only wish it was open to community more often. Understandable though since it's free.
A great swimming facility to workout at. It's just an odd size pool for doing laps. 39 yards / 35.6 meters is not a standard size pool.
Pool is open now but you need to book before going in!
Small. Just small… weird hours.
