Nice pool but it’s not run very well. You can only buy a day pass which gets you access to the entire facility, however, there is no way to know if they have sold out of day passes unless you make the drive there. They do not utilize technology so you cannot buy tickets online, they don’t post on Facebook if tickets have sold out, and they don’t answer their phones. The whole day pass thing is flawed in itself. We showed up with 2 adults and 4 kids as a group of 8 was walking out and another group of 7. They had their sign out when we walked up which said day passes were sold out. I don’t know why but we thought they would still let us in with all of the people leaving (plus it was already 4:00) and all of the empty parking spots but nope. We told the front desk girls that we had tried calling multiple times and they rudely said they get very busy at the front. There was literally nobody at the front desk. So we left and went over to Oak Grove to swim. To me, it was worth the drive to go out of town. Last year when we swam at this pool the lifeguards weren’t even watching the pool and seemed more worried about getting their tan. I think we’ll continue to go over to Oak Grove or even to Lees Summit to swim to be surrounded by a friendlier staff if nothing else.
Staff are nice, but this pool is not very large family friendly. They expect you to stay within an arms distance of your 5 year old even if they are in the kids pool or have a floaty. I could literally be within feet of my kids not swimming and they had a problem with it. Not sure what the point of having life guards is if they want to be that strict. Makes it very difficult if you have multiple kids with a small age gap. Not worth the money if you have small kids.
Unacceptable Treatment Toward My Wife and Disappointing Rule Changes My wife and I had a summer pass last year and had a great time with our kids. It was a fun and relaxing place to spend time as a family. Sadly that has changed this year. The new rule requiring kids under 5 to be within arm’s length of a parent at all times has turned what used to be an enjoyable experience into a stressful one. Our daughter is almost 4 and wears a Coast Guard-approved life vest at all times. She was being safely watched by her teenage sibling while my wife was sitting nearby keeping an eye on them. Despite this the lifeguards repeatedly blew whistles and acted like my wife was doing something wrong simply because she wasn’t physically holding our daughter’s hand. It felt like constant micromanagement and overreach. What really crossed the line was the way the front desk staff treated my wife when she calmly asked about a partial refund. She explained that the new rules and the way they’re being enforced made the experience uncomfortable and not worth the money. The staff member responded by saying if they refunded her they’d have to refund 30 other parents who “also didn’t want to watch their kids.” That was completely disrespectful and uncalled for. My wife is a great mom and was absolutely watching our daughter the entire time. For someone representing the park to talk down to her like that is unacceptable. This place had potential and we had hoped to keep coming back each summer but after this experience we will not be returning. The new rules are excessive and the staff clearly lacks the professionalism to handle concerns from paying customers.
It’s always nice to go to a water park, but wow. Trashy, seeing employees sit on their chairs and not cleaning while not busy! You can’t bring your own food in and have an inexpensive lunch. Too many negative vibes here. Come on Blue Springs, take pride in your city job and park and make it a place to feel welcome and want to come back!
The slides were cool! Most of the lifeguards were nice except one who acted as if he was on a power trip the whole day. I understand the new rule they’re trying to enforce however they’re going about it wrong….children 5 and under have to be within arms length of a parent. Now this means if a parent is sitting in the same play area watching their kids but not within literal arm distance the lifeguard will blow a whistle and tell them to go to their parent. I waved, went over to the guard explaining I was right there watching them and not in a different area of the park. My 3 almost 4 year old who was wearing her life jacket and playing with her older sister in a 2ft kid play area she could touch in kept getting told to go by their parent and this lifeguard was rude. I’m not holding my children while they’re swimming; we went to play and swim. I’m not dropping them off to be babysat as I’m doing my job as a parent watching my children and staying close to them. But I don’t need to be holding their hand the entire time they are swimming or breathing down their back. I could hear and see everything that was being said and they were doing. I would have been able to get to them faster than the guard. Never had this rule at any pool or facility I’ve been to. The rule should be changed to 7 years old and younger need to have a parent in the same play area.
