What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the park and its facilities are mixed, with many visitors praising the pool for being a fun summer destination with slides and diving boards, and noting the presence of clean shelters, friendly staff, and ample parking. The park itself is frequently described as beautiful, with a very attractive baseball stadium (famously featured in 'League of Their Own'), great playgrounds, and large, shady trees, making it a pleasant place for a quiet day. However, a significant number of concerns were raised regarding cleanliness, specifically of the pool itself, its building, hallways, and walkways, as well as unkempt landscaping with dead plants. A major point of criticism was the perceived lack of staff accountability and rule enforcement, with issues cited including lifeguards not enforcing 'no running' or 'no eating on the deck' rules, allowing unsafe practices at the diving board, and inconsistently applying rules regarding floatation devices in the deep end, with an instance of perceived favoritism for a city employee. Some visitors also noted a lack of clear communication on rules and poor supervision by group leaders. While many enjoy the amenities, others feel that management and staff performance fall short of expectations, particularly concerning cleanliness and safety protocol adherence.

Took grandson to a birthday party at the pool. They had shelters to sit under by pool with picnic tables. Very clean. Pool was well maintained and he had a blast with the slides and diving boards. Workers friendly and plenty of parking. Great playground also in the park. Baseball field but didn't go there.

Disappointed w the cleanliness of the pool itself as well as the building. Garage door they raise so you can enter the pool desperately needs sweeping as well as the floor of the hallway and the walkway to the splash pad. The landscape crew apparently sprayed the foliage in the rocks to kill the plants but the dead plants are standing there looking bad. Disappointed that the staff has no one who expects anything of them. There was no enforcement of the 'no running' rule for the 3 hours I was there. The lifeguards I watched by the diving board were letting the kids jump too quickly after each other and letting them jump off the side of the board. At one point, a woman was allowed to use one of the life saving floaties to play in the deep end with some kids after the life guard commented that none of those devices are in good shape. I took my grandson to the deep end right next to the rope but was told there are no life jackets allowed in the deep end. When I asked, when I was leaving, about why my grandson couldn't stay in the deep end w his life jacket on when the rule is not posted, I was told by one of the 6 employees gathered at the entry desk that no floaties are allowed in the deep end. When I pointed out about the woman w the life saving floatie, one of the 6 said she was permitted bc she works for the city lol. I pointed out that what rules are posted don't say, "unless you work for the city." As regards the large group led by the woman who works for the city, along with people who I think are her coworkers who are in charge of this large group, they sat in the shade pretty much ignoring whatever the kids were doing. It would've been OK w me if they had told their charges to follow the rules since they're supposed to be 'watching the kids'. Another rule not enforced is the 'no eating on the deck' rule. I know there's a problem staffing these places but I expected better from the reviews I saw. Idk if they're old reviews or what.

Beautiful park, shelter house, pool and the stadium that was featured in the film League of their own. Beautiful huge trees that make a nice canopy for children to play under.
