About

The Loogootee City Pool and pickleball courts, located in Loogootee, IN, is a popular community recreational facility. It features an outdoor swimming pool, typically open during the summer months, providing a refreshing spot for swimming and water activities. Adjacent to the pool, the facility also offers pickleball courts, catering to the growing interest in this paddle sport and offering an additional option for active recreation.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for this recreational facility are mixed, with several significant complaints alongside some positive notes. A major point of contention is a new policy, attributed to the Mayor, banning lifejackets on pool slides, which has led to disappointment and safety concerns, especially for non-swimming children. Another negative experience at the pool involved excessive lifeguard breaks, resulting in limited swim time for the public, who were left waiting in high temperatures. Additionally, the pickleball courts are criticized for lacking lights, though otherwise appreciated. On a positive note, the skatepark is enjoyed and considered a safe amenity for the small town.

I've taken my grandkids to this pool for years & they loved it until now. The Mayor decided lifejackets are a safety hazard when going down the slides, that they could get caught on the slides. There is nothing on the slides that could cause someone to get hung up. Only one person at a time is allowed on the slide at a time & the lifeguard is specifically watching that area. Lifejackets help children who are not good swimmers from drowning in the deep water. My grandson panicked when going down the slide so from then on the lifejacket prevented that. If the Mayor used the slide himself he would see how safe it is & not wearing a lifejacket when needed is the safety concern. Very disappointed.

We went there to swim & the pool was open for 55 mins & the life guards took a 30 minute break. In 40 more minutes they took another 30 minute break. After asking why this was happening, we were told we'll its very hot today, so they are allowed to. The public were however made to sit in the 95° heat & that was okay. If you want to be in the water, then go elsewhere, we did...

Shame they don't let the kids wear life jackets in the pool. Shows what happens when you let politicians make decisions they don't belong in.

I hate that there no lights for the pickleball courts! 😪 Very nice courts though!

I enjoy the skatepark. It's nothing major, but for a small town, it's somewhere safe.
