About

The Andrew J. Petro Memorial Pool, located at 15 Randolph St, Southbridge, MA, is a public outdoor swimming facility operated by the Southbridge Recreation Department. It serves as a popular community amenity during the summer months, offering recreational swimming for residents and often providing swimming lessons and other water activities.

Specific, consistently maintained pool temperatures for the Andrew J. Petro Memorial Pool are not typically publicized. As a municipal outdoor pool, its water temperature primarily fluctuates with ambient weather conditions and sunlight, and it is generally unheated.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews generally present a positive view of the public pool, frequently commending its cleanliness, the friendly and caring staff/lifeguards, and the good value offered by family/season passes. Patrons appreciate the well-maintained bathrooms, changing areas, and comfortable sitting areas. The facility is described as a large pool with three sections, often providing a pleasant experience on hot days. However, there are several criticisms: some patrons find the pool's operating hours too short (only 5 hours), and a strict rule prevents using ladders for entry, often enforced with constant whistle-blowing. Other drawbacks include two mandatory 20-minute breaks where all swimmers must exit the pool, a perceived lack of sufficient shade stations, and occasional instances where staff do not address disruptive patron behavior. A past issue with frequent closures due to chemical imbalances was also mentioned, with hopes for resolution.

I love the pool area, but I do not like that they close so early. They're only open for 5 hours. It's sunny and hot until at least 7 730. How you can't go down the ladders. You can go up them, but you have to walk all the way back around to get in. As long as no one is sitting on them or blocking them, I don't see why they have to constantly blow the whistle for it.

This was a nice visit to the local public pool. We were on vacation at a nearby camp site. It was a hot day so we needed a place close by. The pool at the camp site was closed and I do not like pond water. The guards are very nice, we paid $35 for 3 teens and two adults. The pool is clean and the sitting areas are very nice. It’s one big pool with three sections. They take two 20 minute breaks where they ask everyone to step outside the pool, other than that it’s a nice time spent on a hot summer day.

So grateful to live a 1 min walk away from this pool!! Clean pool. Plenty of bathrooms and changing areas that are also kept up nicely. Great staff/lifeguards who are caring and friendly! Great hours this summer too! Family pass is such a great bargain!

Not bad for a local pool. Generally fairly clean. Really need some shade stations. Facility is run by the local YMCA and generally by younger people. They are mostly responsible people. Pre-COVID they were closed a lot due to chemical imbalances or lack of stock of them. Hopefully this will be resolved this year. Sometimes other patrons ruin the atmosphere and staff generally will not address the issue. Season pass is a great deal for a family and available at the YMCA facility.
