What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews for Pool Services Inc are highly mixed, presenting a dichotomy between excellent individual service and significant systemic issues. Positive feedback highlights the professionalism, knowledge, and punctuality of technicians like Andrew and Brad, who are praised for efficient problem-solving, competitive pricing for monthly service, and not charging for minor adjustments. Some long-term customers appreciate the company's consistency in keeping the same cleaner for decades and convenient billing. However, multiple recent negative experiences, particularly following business acquisitions, reveal serious concerns. These include billing for services not rendered (e.g., unperformed acid washing), unexplained and substantial price increases, failure to send bills leading to customers being sent to collections, and accusations of 'ghost services.' Customers also reported inadequate cleaning, with technicians performing minimal checks after storms rather than full cleanings. The owner, Dora, is frequently cited in negative reviews for being unprofessional, agitated when questioned about service discrepancies, cancelling services for customers who raised concerns, and using manipulative tactics, including threatening elderly clients with collections and property liens. These issues point to inconsistent service quality, problematic billing practices, and poor customer relations, leading some to label the company as engaging in 'bad faith business practices.'

Update: since my last review I have decided to use Pool Services Inc to provide monthly pool service. Their fees are reasonable and very competitive. They take care of everything and this is the first time I've ever had pool service but what they do beyond just cleaning/caring for the pool. There is an extra benefit that they do not charge for minor things similar to adjusting the equipment or rearranging the pull sweep tubing. If it's a repair or a replacement part that's needed a fair fee will be charged. Andrew came out and did a great job fixing an issue. Same day call and repair. Solved the problem quickly and only charged base service fee. They are better than what the reviews rate them at. I have tried the others. There base fee is more and the waiting time is longer this time of year, which is normal. However, the last two, prior, that came out were younger and less experienced.
Andrew and Dora were absolutely Fantastic!!!!! Andrew is extremely knowledgeable and we were impressed by his professionalism! He came on time! He knew exactly what needed to be fixed. Gave us great tips! RECOMMENDED A 100 TIMES OVER!!!!!!!!!!
The main reason for having service is because we were promised that we would have the same gentleman clean our pool we started with almost 40 yrs. ago and they kept their promise, Brad has done an excellent job for us all these years. The company has made it easy for us to pay our bill every month, so when we travel we don't have to worry about the billing and trust the process. Thank you.
Well, we became introduced to Pool Service , Inc. when they purchased Salem Pool's business. We used Salem Pools and we were very pleased with their level of service. Our fist negative experience with Pool Service, Inc. when they billed us $150 for "Acid Washing" our filters which were not even 1 yr old. The problem is, they NEVER cleaned the filters. The filters never left the house and the acid washing never occurred at our house. So I cancelled their service and when doing so spoke with the owner Dora. Dora did not deny billing for a service that was not done and reversed the charge on the bill. After not using a pool service for a year we decided to give Pool Service, Inc. another shot. So we contacted them in late summer and began using them again, despite a $40 per month increase in monthly fee. Did not have much to complain about until the recent storm hit on 01/26/2021. With 65mph wind gusts we had a lot of debris in the pool. Our pool tech arrived on the Thursday morning following the storm. He came and checked the chemical levels, emptied the leaf strainer and emptied the bag on the pool sweep. He was there for a total of 5 minutes and left. After he left i looked at the pool which was still covered in leaves and debris from the storm. There was a large amount of leaves on the bottom of the pool. Our pool is only 2 years old and is still in pristine condition. Leaves left on the surface can stain the plaster. My wife called Pool Services, Inc. and spoke to the owner Dora. My wife asked her to send the tech back out to clean the pool (isn't that what we are paying for, hum novel idea. You hire a pool cleaner to clean your pool). Dora told my wife because there was more storms forecasted that they were only checking chemical levels and not cleaning pools. So, my wife questioned Dora about why we are paying for a pool cleaning service and not getting our pool cleaned. Dora told my wife that she is not responsible for "Mother Nature". My wife asked Dora if we would still be billed for four weeks or cleaning when we did not receive 4 weeks of cleaning. Dora told my wife she would credit our bill $20.00. Dora was very unprofessional when talking to my wife and was agitated that my wife was actually questioning why the tech did not clean our pool. So, my wife ended up cleaning all of the leaves out of the pool and hot tub herself. Now, today 02/03/2021 we receive a "Final Statement" with a note from Dora cancelling our service because she apparently did not like being questioned about the service we were paying for but not receiving. Our community is small and customers should get what they pay for.
TLDR: Bad faith business. Use at your own risk. Get everything in writing. We had another pool service for almost two years until they were bought out by this pool service. The last bill I received was from December, 2022, which was for about $100, which we paid. Then the switch happened (from my understanding), and we have not received a bill from them YET, but they've sent us to collections TWICE. I called them in March because our pool had turned completely green (we were in the middle of a renovation and were only at the house about once a week). That's when they told me we owed them $400, their last service was the last week of February, and they had sent us to collections for the unpaid bill. I made sure the address they had on file was correct because we had not received a bill from this company since the switch/merger. Everything was correct, but they dropped our service at the end of February, and we had to find someone new to do it. Never got a paper bill in the mail, but we got a call in June stating we would be sent to collections and the bill was now $500, and they were claiming they had serviced us in March (which is interesting, because the pool was completely green in March and no one came out - I have cameras, I would have known if someone went through the back gate). We requested a paper bill be mailed to the house and they said they would do that. At the end of August, my mother gets a call from this company claiming we owe them over $600 for services done through April (yet they originally dropped our service in February). They made some threats to my ELDERLY mother about sending her to collections and putting a lean on the house (not cool to manipulate and gaslight an elderly woman). When my mother told them to call back and speak with me, they could "only speak to the owner of the house." That's interesting because it had been ME paying the bill before my mother paid the last bill just to make them go away. Seriously, though, if they contact us again I will be reporting them as fraudulent and a scam. Not only did our bill mysteriously go up, we were suddenly receiving ghost services that I could have sworn I was paying somebody else to do because this company refused to do it, they never sent us a physical bill or even gave us a way to look it up online, and they deliberately gaslit and manipulated an elderly individual with scare tactics and just plain bad faith business practices. Use at your own risk, I can't stress this enough.
