What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for this motel offer a mixed bag of experiences. Many guests appreciate its dog-friendly policy, quiet location less than a block from the beach, and classic motel charm. The pool is frequently praised as lovely, and some staff members, particularly 'Leslie', are noted for being friendly, helpful, and even offering competitive booking prices. Rooms are generally considered clean, and some found them spacious. However, significant negative experiences are also reported, primarily involving staff interactions regarding service and emotional support animals, where guests felt threatened and embarrassed due to a staff member's (Leslie again mentioned) misinterpretation of ADA guidelines. Other complaints include outdated rooms, uncomfortable and noisy mattresses, issues with AC functionality, insufficient warm water, and a lack of adequate towels for the number of guests. Some guests found the motel overpriced given these issues and the treatment received, with one reviewer specifically mentioning an 'owner' who made their family uncomfortable while ignoring issues with other guests' pets. Parking is also noted as being small and unnumbered.

At the last minute I needed an affordable place to stay that welcomed dogs. Lucky for me, the Beach Colony had a room available for the nights I needed. I love Wildwood Crest, and I like to be as far away from the bustle of the boardwalk as possible. Both the motel and the surrounding area are *quiet* and less than a block away from the beach. I love a classic motel and the funkier the bedspreads and the bathroom tile, the better. The pool was lovely and the staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. I hope to stay there again!
The trip was going well until we were threatened to be kicked out over our SERVICE dog on the second day in front of multiple guests in an embarrassing interaction with a staff member I think named Leslie. My family was walking down to the beach, we made it about 20 ft down the street when we realized we forgot wipes/poo bags for the 2 dogs (one service animal, one emotional support) and I walked my mother back to grab them. Staff was outside and called me by name to say the dog is not with my mother and per ADA has to be with her at all times. We expressed that she’s just down the road, you can wave at her and we just needed to get our doggy bags and she repeated the same phrase so I tried to explain that we’re walking back to our dog now and my moms levels were already taken for the morning and we just needed wipes and she begins to get louder and say “YOU’RE SERVICE DOG IS TO BE ATTACHED TO YOU AT ALL TIMES PER ADA GUIDELINES, YOU SIGNED THAT YOU HAVE A DISABILITY AND IF I SEE YOU WITHOUT YOUR SERVICE DOG I WILL ASK YOU TO LEAVE.” At this point my mother is upset that she’s shouting about her having a disability and trying to explain the dog is just about three cars down and we can see her and we just needed an item from the room and staff just shouts again “I WILL KICK YOU OFF THE PREMISES IF I SEE YOU WITHOUT THE DOG AGAIN.” We walked away, there was no need to further escalate, we drove 8 hours the day before and we were only staying 1 more night. But this truly soured things, it was completely rude and unnecessary and the worst part? Those aren’t even the guidelines. So let me clear this up, per ADA straight off the government site- “ADA does not require a service dog handler to be with their dog at all times. While service dogs must be under the handler's control, this can be achieved through various methods like a leash, voice control, or hand signals, not necessarily constant physical presence.” My mother has control over her service dog, dogs are both less than 6 pounds, barely speak, crate trained, potty trained, service trained. We were in eyesight of OUR service dog who was standing with my father just down the street. They need to familiarize themselves with the proper ADA regulations if they’re going to threaten in front of multiple people to kick us out just because our service animal wasn’t attached to my mother’s hip in that moment. Many guests approached us later in the day asking about the interaction, after spending almost $2000 for 2 rooms that were outdated, with little warm water, and an AC that took 2 hours to finally cool the back room we were in, this was truly a bad experience. Separated from my mothers room, my sister and I stayed in a 3 bed with our 4 teenage girls and though we showed up a bit late, there were only 4 towels.. I mean in a room with 3 guest beds and my reservation clearly says 6 total staying.. you could have already put 6 towels total. Thankfully we brought our own anyway. Overall, it was not worth the price.
We had a great time at Beach Colony! Our 4 children loved the pool and the slide. The room was spacious and the entire place was very clean. Leslie was very helpful and was able to beat online prices when I booked over the phone! We love going to Wildwood and this was our first time at the Beach Colony, we will definitely be back!
The pool is nice, rooms are clean. Decent location. Little outdated rooms,. Parking spaces should be numbered. Parking spaces are small. Biggest thing is mattresses are uncomfortable and noisy. Good service. Leslie at front desk is very hospitable.
The owner made me and my family extremely uncomfortable. They were constantly targeting us and yelling at us for nothing while she had guests right next to our room leaving their barking dogs alone for the entire day. Our room was also extremely hot, the ac did not work. Way too expensive for such treatment.
