What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews for 'The Works' are predominantly positive, consistently praising the amazing, friendly, and helpful staff, especially at the front desk and the Playzone, which is highlighted as incredible for child care and safety. Members appreciate the wide variety of facilities, including well-maintained cardio equipment, pools, and engaging fitness classes with motivating instructors. The updated tennis program also received specific commendation. Many feel it's a great investment and a welcoming, 'home-like' environment for the whole family. However, several key concerns were raised: the weight lifting and resistance training areas are often described as extremely busy, making equipment access challenging. A significant point of frustration is the pool policy requiring parents to be within arm's reach of children wearing approved floatation devices, which is seen as counterintuitive and overly restrictive. Additionally, the bathrooms and pool area facilities are frequently noted as dated, worn down, and in need of substantial renovation and modern cleanliness.

the works is the best!!! first, you are welcomed by the amazing staff at the front desk, everyone is so friendly and helpful. all of the facilities are very well kept, with SO much to offer for the entire family. and the playzone, i can’t say enough good things about! the staff is INCREDIBLE, they are so supportive for both child and parent. i can enjoy a workout and know my children are happy, well cared for and most importantly safe. i will recommend the works to anyone and everyone, its a place that feels like home. a membership is the best investment!
It's definitely a gym with lots of options. We use the cardio room regularly. They have a good number of equipment and are pretty good about staying on top of down equipment and units. The only warning I will give is that if you're looking for resistance training or weight lifting, those areas are usually quite busy in the mornings so I can only image in the evening how packed they must be. It might be hard to get access to the equipment you're wanting to use. Other than that, the pools, the outdoor pool, the play zone etc. are all awesome. The staff that greet us in the morning are always super kind and helpful. Ms. Larua from the Playzone is so good with our son and he is always excited to come back.
I have to say their pool policy regarding kids and floaties is frustrating and frankly, a bit backward. They enforce a rule that parents must be within arm’s reach of their kids if they are wearing floatation devices—even if the kids are simply bobbing in shallow water with Coast Guard-approved floaties. This feels completely counterintuitive. The whole point of floaties is added safety. If anything, the rule should apply more strictly to children not wearing floatation devices. Isn’t that when they’re at greater risk? It comes across as more of a liability move than a common-sense safety measure, and it ends up making what should be a relaxing swim stressful and unnecessarily restrictive for parents who are already supervising closely. Also worth mentioning: the bathrooms and pool area are showing their age. The facilities feel worn down and could really use some updating. Peeling paint, dated tiles, and a general lack of modern cleanliness make it feel more like a 1990s rec center than a facility charging current membership rates. The potential is there, and we’d love to see some investment go toward renovating the pool area and rethinking some of these rigid policies—especially those that don’t reflect real-world water safety logic.
I grew up with my grandfather living on the tennis courts here and for years after Ray Lambert left, the tennis program was never the same. The new person they have now, Tim, is fantastic and I had such a wonderful time this summer playing social Doubles and meeting new people.
I'm so excited to have found the best gym around! 🤩 There's so much to do here, I never get bored. The classes are fantastic, and I especially love the instructor. They make working out so fun and motivating. I highly recommend checking out this gym if you're looking for a great workout. 💪 #fitness #gymlife #workoutmotivation
