Park featuring an outdoor pool with a rock wall and a diving board.
Specific pool temperatures for Gustafson Park Outdoor Pool are typically maintained by staff daily and are not consistently published online.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Gustafson Waterpark typically operates from early June to early August (e.g., June 6th to August 5th-6th in 2023, open by June 13th in 2024). Admission is $2 for seniors and children, $3 for adults, and free for ages 2 and under. The facility features an Olympic-sized pool with a rock wall, diving board, and swim lanes, as well as a splash pad. It offers a covered picnic area, lounge chairs, available life jackets, and clean women's changing areas/restrooms. Lifeguards are generally attentive, and free lunches are provided for those 18 and under (2:30-3:00 PM). While many praise it as a family-friendly and relaxing spot with friendly staff, a significant recurring issue is inaccurate online hours, leading to unexpected closures. When open, some visitors report overcrowding with unsupervised, loud teenagers, creating a less family-friendly atmosphere and more of a 'hangout spot.' Seasonal popularity can also lead to litter. Entry into the pool is via ladders and a disability hoist, and the playground is located separately across the parking lot. Park construction was noted near the pool in 2024.
Reviews
2024: Was open by June 13th. 2023: Opened for season around June 6th. Like all Indy park pools, CLOSED after weekend of August 5th to 6th. * Should have clean water, lifeguards, free lunches for those 18 & under (2:30pm to 3pm, in both 2023 & 2024.) * Admission price was $2 for seniors and children (although free for ages 2 & under); and $3 for adults otherwise. * Summer pool popularity can cause a seasonal overflow of litter. 2024 had additional park construction going on near the pool.
★☆☆☆☆ Misleading and Poorly Managed Don’t trust the Google Maps hours — it says Gustafson Waterpark is open, but when you actually show up, the place is completely closed. No signs, no warning, nothing updated online. Why even bother hiring lifeguards if you’re not going to open the pool? Also, when it is open, it’s packed with unsupervised teenagers running around, being loud, and not respecting others. There’s barely any order, and it feels more like a hangout spot than a family-friendly waterpark. Disappointing experience overall.
Went to Northwest when it was a highschool, back in the 70's I used to go swimming here when I was younger. Great memories! It's still nice and relaxing.
It is a great little pool with a splash pad. Covered picnic area and lots of lounge chairs. The women's changing area and restrooms were very clean. The lifeguards were attentative. It only has ladders and a disability hoist to get in the pool, so be prepared to take a plunge. The depth of water is not easily seen but there is a diving board and swim lanes.
Great family friendly location has Olympic size pool with rockwall and diving board as well as a spray ground. Staff is always friendly. Love jackets available to all, felt safe all summer. Addressing other reviews this is the the pool not the park. They do have public restrooms. The playground is on the otherside of the parking lot. Unfortunately last day open this summer is July 31.
