About

Free outdoor pool for families with a handicap-accessible entry and friendly service.

Specific pool temperatures for Southside Pool are not publicly advertised. As a seasonal outdoor facility, the water temperature is generally ambient and varies with the prevailing weather conditions throughout the summer.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The facility generally receives praise for its free admission, affordable concessions, and polite front desk staff. Many also find it a good place for children, noting the provision of extra swim gear and the quick response of some lifeguards to unsafe situations. However, there are significant recurring criticisms, particularly regarding the swimwear regulations, which are described as inconsistent, strict, and discriminatorily enforced, especially towards women seeking modesty. Numerous reviews highlight rude, unprofessional, and inconsistent behavior from teenage managers and lifeguards. Lifeguards are also criticized for being disrespectful to adults, allowing teens to misbehave, and for inconsistent pool closures during breaks. A severe incident was reported where a breastfeeding mother was allegedly illegally expelled.

Free admission, good food. Negative side is the regulations about swim clothes. I swam there a few times over the summer in the same outfit and it was never addressed until the final time, and they told me I could not swim because I was wearing swim trunks that were not classified as proper swim wear, although my top “might be”. I purchased two swim trunks from Walmart this year with a matching top. I suppose it might be odd for a woman to wear trunks, but pardon my attempt at modesty. The teenage manager came up to me with another girl and requested to feel my outfit and told me it was fine, then sent a different one out a few minutes later to tell me that I had to take them off. Seeing as how I had nothing underneath (trunks with a built-in crotch!) I requested to go speak to the manager again, to which the messenger had an attitude when she told me where to go. The manager claimed she had “looked up” to see if they were really swimwear and couldn’t find them online, so she changed her mind. Mind you, these are plain black trunks. Nothing fancy, simply shorts-length swimwear that I feel bodily comfortable in. I asked her if I had to leave the pool, to which she responded that I simply couldn’t get them wet. So I repeated my question as it had been made clear that I had nothing on underneath—what am I going to do, sit on the edge and watch my boyfriend swim solo? The girls were rude, unprofessional, and inconsistent. I would have appreciated it if the stand-in manager had come out herself to address it a second time instead of hiding inside and sending out someone else to deal with her mistake. If you are a woman not wearing revealing bikini bottoms and a top, they apparently think you’re lying about the swimwear (despite feeling the material and saying it was fine!) and will remove you. Definitely finding somewhere else to swim. Irritating experience especially after enjoying the pool previously.

You guys need new life guards. They’re very disrespectful to adults. But let the teens do whatever they want. Front desk staff was nice. Recognized us from the first time we went. Let us through with the swim wear we were wearing. We follow The rules and dress code, yet here I am writing a review about lifeguard staff that has a very poor attitude towards adults. You guys need adults for life guards. If the pool is closed due to life guards on break. Then the entire pool should be closed. Not teens on the other end diving off of the board.

Good time for the kiddo's. The normal teenager mouth garbage and parents allowing it, but nothing out of the ordinary. Free entry gives it an extra star from what it deserves.

Great pool for the community! The front desk gentlemen is very polite and caring, and always has music playing to help the atmosphere of the pool. Extra swim gear is provided for the kiddos! (Little swimmer floaties) Concession stand lady was very sweet, with affordable pricing. Untolerable behavior was dealt with quickly by front desk. Lifeguards acted quickly to unsafe atmospheres. (Kid jumping in shallow end, pushing, running, etc) Lifeguards also kept their eyes open on cloudy deep ends, tested out the diving board often, took appropriate breaks and shifts, and kept all eyes on the pools and safety of the kiddos/guest. Extra bonus is it is FREE! Bathroom is a little rough but not any worse than public gas station restrooms now adays (lol) All in all... there is always the small possibility of things we dont agree on, cursing, bad examples or unfortunate situations but they do not exist 24/7 and are dealt with appropriately and quickly. Our family will continue to come!

Long story short I seen them kick a mother and her kid's out all because she was breastfeeding her baby. That's illegal
