Specific temperature details for the Tottenville Pool are not readily available in public information. As an outdoor facility, its temperature would naturally fluctuate with ambient weather conditions.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews for the public pool are mixed, highlighting both significant positive aspects and frustrating drawbacks. Many patrons praise the friendly and attentive staff, including security, lifeguards, and locker room attendants. The facility is generally described as clean, with well-maintained kiddie and Olympic-sized adult pools, frequent water quality checks, and various amenities such as sunblock/water stations, a playground, games (cornhole, Connect Four), ample seating, shade, and refreshing misting palm trees. Visitors appreciate the free swim lessons, extended hours on hot days, and even simple lunches for children in the morning. However, a notable number of negative experiences are reported, primarily concerning long wait times, issues with line cutting, rude staff, and frequent closures or 'maintenance' that prevent entry. Patrons also express frustration with strict rules, including the prohibition of floaties for young children, restrictions on patron cellphone use (while staff use them), and the requirement to bring personal locks. A significant point of contention is the $40 per person charge for a wristband to bypass lines. Despite these criticisms, many positive reviewers express a strong desire to return, especially for the family-friendly atmosphere and activities.

Really good experience at the pool today. I arrived at 10:30 and was able to find street parking in front. The line to enter moved fast, security was really nice and so were the lockeroom attendants and lifeguards. The rules are- you have to arrive in your bathing suit, a lock for your belongings. You can only bring a towel to the pool deck and water bottle. They provide sunblock and water stations. You must store other belongings in the lockeroom. They let me bring apple juice for my daughter to the pool deck since it was in a clear plastic bottle, no glass allowed. You cannot have food there either. The locker room is clean but poorly lit. There are several changing stations with curtains. Then you have to rinse your body before entering the pool. The kiddie pool was the main reason i came, my 16 month year old swam in the 1.5 foot pool. The lifeguards are attentive and the pool was fairly clean minus small bugs that flew in. I appreciate that there was some chairs to sit on and ample shade. The downside is they don’t allow floaties, and i wish they did since my daughter is so young and cannot swim yet. It is nice that they give free swim lessons here to all ages and extend pool hours on hot days. I also like the cornhole and connect four games. The cool mist palm trees were also so refreshing, i would totally put one in my backyard. The adult pool has multiple lanes and is pretty much Olympic sized but the most shallow is 3.5 feet. Not optimal for toddlers. There was tons of seating available along with tables for families. I also appreciate the playground for children. They clean the pool between 3-4 pm so it is best to come at either opening time of 11 am or 4 pm. I did not see people buy or have pool wristbands and i saw a separate line for that so i assume it only is offered on crowded days like the weekend. It also is annoying that workers can use cellphones but patrons cannot. I did appreciate that the pool temp and bacteria was frequently being measured, there is overall good maintenance here. I will totally come back here!
This is my favorite place to go. The staff there are very friendly, including the police officers on duty. My five-year-old child likes to go here very much... my son and I come here almost every few days. The most frequent week is to come every day for two hours. You need to abide by the rules of the swimming pool when you come here: 〖Do not take:🙅🏻♀️〗 First, you cannot bring valuables such as: mobile phones, wallets, the purpose is to prevent petty theft, second✌🏻: you need to bring your own key lock/combination lock to ensure the safety of your things; third: you must adapt to the habit of the staff in the changing room at any time, she has the obligation Protect the property safety of every visitor, not just you; 〖Things you can do〗 You can bring your own bottle water, swimming goggles, swimsuit, Swimhat, bath towel, sunscreen... and books; I am very fortunate that there is such a swimming pool at my doorstep for my children to play... The security staff of the swimming pool are very dedicated and responsible, and the staff who fill the swimming pool will go to test the water quality of the swimming pool every once in a while... When you come to the end of the morning, the staff will give a simple lunch to your children. My son likes to eat the green apples there. The staff are very friendly, and I am very fortunate that they are so friendly to my children...
Absolutely terrible.. I went with me son we waited 20 min online we were the last ones they let in . They don't care when people cut the line. The staff is rude . You would be better off swimming on the beach down the block and growing a 3rd arm .. and they now charge 40 dollars per person if u want a wrist band to cut the line .
I don't know what kind of garbage this public pool is. I went there 4 times in July and only managed to get in once. They kept saying it was under maintenance. If it's supported by my taxes, please tear it down and give me my money back.
The pool is pretty nice and clean the staff were very nice, it’s way much better than other pools in sunset pool and red hook pool
