What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews for Montclair pool present a mixed, but largely negative, experience. A primary concern is the unprofessional and inattentive behavior of the teenage staff and lifeguards, who are frequently described as rude, distracted, and overly focused on playing loud hip-hop music, making conversation impossible and raising safety concerns. Multiple attempts to have the music volume reduced were ignored by staff and management. Other criticisms include cold, hyper-chlorinated water, limited open swim hours, and a poorly ventilated locker room after repainting. On the positive side, the pool is noted as large, suitable for swim practice, featuring a diving board and a shallow-end toy, with reasonable pricing. Staff consistency is also an issue, with some being accommodating while others are complacent.

Never coming here again!!! Not a family-friendly pool! Swimming at Montclair has become a thoroughly unpleasant experience. In addition to the hyper-chlorinated, cold water... The teenaged "lifeguards" appeared more focused on chilling out and enjoying loud, obnoxious music than paying attention to the children swimming there. We love music of all types, but the hip hop was so loud that we couldn't hear each other talk - when we were way across the pool from the stereo they had blasting. How could they hear someone asking for help?!?!? I asked one of the lifeguards to turn it down, but the shaggy lifeguard immediately turned it right back up. We asked the manager to turn it down, and he turned it back up. I politely asked him, and guess what... he turned it back up. So, what's his focus supposed to be??? Obviously not the children in the water. Sounds like a huge liability to us. Is there management here, or is it just a bunch of unsupervised teenagers that want to jam and dance in their platform chairs??? We get that pools are generally noisy, but why would we want to hear hip hop blasting so loud that we can't hold a conversation with one another? We're in our 40's, not our 70's and the music drove us out.
This is a fun pool for a family visit. It is a large pool with a diving board section and a crocodile toy in the shallow section of the pool. Unfortunately there is not a slide. There are tables and chairs for people not wanting to swim. The pricing is reasonable, but the open swim hours are limited to 1:00pm to 4:00pm or 5:00pm during the summer.
Great for swimming practice. I will say the only bad thing was when they repainted. They didn't air out the locker room and all of our clothes smelled like paint. Also made it tough to breathe.
Our daughter has swim practice here 3x a week. Depending on the staff they will open the gym for the spectators to pass the time/shoot hoops, etc. Some of the staff are very accommodating and others seem to be complacent and disinterested.
This place is run by a bunch of teenagers who act as if you’re crashing their party. Very rude and unprofessional.
