Recreational and lap pool with fountains, plus a gym, dance and aqua-aerobics classes.
The aquatic center at the East Oakland Sports Center typically maintains its competition pool at approximately 80-82°F (26-28°C). A warm-water instructional/therapy pool is generally heated to a more therapeutic 90-92°F (32-33°C). A splash park is also available.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The facility receives praise for its excellent and friendly staff, both on the phone and at the front desk, and for its well-maintained exercise equipment. The indoor, heated pool is particularly lauded as "awesome" for little kids, featuring a ramp entry, gradual depth, and fun elements like fountains, with classes like ballet and karate also available. Despite external concerns about surrounding encampments and stripped cars, the internal gated area is perceived as safe and clean, and the pool water is noted to be clean and chlorinated. However, common criticisms include the pool and changing rooms being old, outdated, and in need of renovation (with cracks and dips in the pool floor), and a broken water slide. A significant point of contention for one parent was the strict no-floaty policy for children, which was seen as an unfair restriction that undermined the role of lifeguards.

What is the point of lifeguards. My child can't wear a floaty in the pool, huh! Why?They said, they are not allowed because they want to make sure the children are being watched by the parents. Why do other children have to be penalized for parents who neglect to watch their children? My kid had to be held the whole time. She is almost ready to swim on her own and wanted to practice with a floaty. What do the lifeguards get paid for. Back in the day the lifeguards would ask where are your parents. Nope didnt hear that. Just, "Don't sit on the wall." There were a lot of kids without their parents.
Disclaimer: I have not been to EOSC, however, I felt the need to give kudos to there office staff. I called enquiring about lap availablilty, and the gentleman who took my call was extremely polite, informative, and answered all my questions. I rarely experience customer service at this level. Unfortunately, I did not write down his name, hopefully this gets back to him, call placed on: 8/11/25 5:35pm
The exercise equipment looks to be well cared for and in good working order. The pool and changing rooms are a little old and out dated. There are some cracks and dips in the pool floor. They could definitely use a face lift. The people there, staff and patrons are very friendly.
Awesome pool for little kids as there's a ramp entry that goes from ankle deep gradually to 4 ft. Fountains, curved shapes, not your typical lap pool. Water slide has been broken since I got here, so that was a bummer. Aside from being surrounded by encampments and stolen and stripped cars, the area within is gated and feels safe and clean. They have rec swim on weekends from 1-5, and the pool is indoor and heated.
Great pool for kids so many fun experiences ballet karate or very nice classes very friendly desk I don't know why these people are saying the water is murky they put chlorine the water is very clean and people barely pee in the pool
