Overall, BayClub Courtside is a fantastic facility. It is a high-end club featuring two large gyms, numerous classes, a nice pool, and tennis courts. The cleanliness is top-notch, and amenities like towels and soaps are provided. Additionally, the club boasts a nice restaurant, a spa, and a sports store, which add to its appeal. Complimentary coffee is available every day until 11 am, along with a Bevi water machine, which I love. However, there are two main drawbacks: 1. The pool is great for swimming and includes a nice Jacuzzi. However, it is more suited for swimmers than families with kids, in my opinion. 2. The biggest downside is the parking situation. Most of the time, finding a spot requires a lot of waiting, ranging from 5 to 30 minutes on busy days. Although they have an additional parking lot, it is quite far and often full as well. It feels like the club keeps adding new members without addressing this issue.
I joined Bay Club because public tennis courts in the Bay Area are notoriously hard to find. When I saw they had a reservation system for tennis courts, I thought I would no longer need to stress about court availability. So I didn’t hesitate to join the Club West Gold tier which supposedly offers the best experience in the reservation system with advanced booking. Unfortunately, more than once I’ve shown up to my reserved court only to find USTA matches still going on. When I politely pointed out that it was my booked time, the players on court dragged their feet before leaving, while their teammates on the sidelines booed or cursed at me for daring to exercise my reservation. That’s not just poor manners. That’s blatant bullying, and it makes the whole experience feel hostile. I understand part of this is individual behavior, but let’s not pretend management has no responsibility. Clearly, nobody is telling these players the rules, and there are zero consequences for hogging courts past their time. The reservation system becomes meaningless, and members get caught in the middle. And after reading other members’ reviews, I realized this kind of bully behavior isn’t limited to the tennis courts. It happens at the pool as well. Which makes me reasonably suspect that management isn’t just failing to enforce rules, but actively tolerating this environment across the club. To be fair, the hardware here is solid. The tennis courts themselves are good quality, the gym is well equipped, and the recovery room is actually quite nice. But all of that gets overshadowed by the hostile environment created by unchecked bullying and poor enforcement. No amount of shiny facilities can make up for a culture that makes members feel unwelcome. Bay Club: where you pay premium prices to be bullied in a toxic culture.
i’m a gymnast so i don’t go here often, but when i do it’s always a pleasant experience. fellow gym members always share when i visit, which is surprising especially since i’m a lot younger and smaller compared to everyone else. i’d expect them to be hostile towards me since i’m “just a kid”, or “just a little girl”; as i’ve heard. LOTS of treadmills, plenty of stairmasters, two regular bars and a pull up bar. there are also rowing machines, if that’s what you’re interested in 🥴 the women’s locker rooms and bathrooms are great! lots of showers, lots of lockers and room to change, and they provide clean towels, antiperspirant, hair spray, and blow dryers. their pool is also nice but there is no shade in the water, so that’s something to note if it’s something that concerns you. me personally, i haven’t played tennis there before but there are HUGE courts and definitely way too many 🤣 the more the better though! my only complaints are the lack of mobility workout/exercise machines and that there is basically no air circulation in the showers. the showers are very small which means they will get stuffy soon after the hot water is on for a few minutes. not a problem if you take cold showers but it gets muggy and warm in there 1/4th of the way into my showertime. overall a great experience with bay club and i will obviously be coming back here again! 😊
Parking is a nightmare. I try to work out several times a week and each time it can take up to 20 minutes of circling the parking lot to find a space in the main lot as well as the overflow lot. Squeezing into a spot against a curb in the lot will get you a citation. This morning, I again gave up after not finding parking and went home. I will be looking into how to cancel my annual membership as a result.
Very unprofessional and careless staff and management. I enrolled my 5 yr old daughter to the summer cap which costs $$$ for her to learn and have fun. On the first day itself i told atleast 3 people not to send her in the pool because I or my want to be around when kids are in pool due to safety concerns. Even after that I learnt on the first day that they sent her to deep pool. On of her friends who was in the similar situation almost drowned. I wanted to take my daughter out of the club and when i am calling to talk to them they mentioned that the summer camp director is on vacation, then I asked to spoke to someone incharge, the front desk person was playing telephone and routed me to 4 different voicemails. Now he is not even picking up the phone. Of this is the state of carelessness then I do not want to send her to bay club ever. These people should be sued.
