I visited Six Flags Discovery Kingdom on July 1st and had an incredible experience that far exceeded my expectations. While the park was a bit crowded earlier in the day, the crowds thinned out significantly after 2 PM, making it easy to enjoy the rides with little to no wait. I started the day with The Joker, which is always a thrilling choice to kick things off. I followed it up with two back-to-back rides on Wonder Woman Lasso of Truth, which delivered the usual adrenaline rush. The highlight of the day, however, was my experience on Medusa. Not only was the ride nearly a walk-on in the afternoon, but the operator was also incredibly accommodating, allowing multiple re-rides. I ended up riding Medusa 17 times, most of them in the front row – an absolutely unforgettable experience. What made this visit stand out was the stark contrast to a previous weekday visit where I waited nearly three hours just to ride Medusa in row 8. This time, the weekday strategy truly paid off – the park was far more relaxed, and operations were smooth and efficient. I highly recommend visiting on a weekday if you're looking to get the most out of your time and enjoy your favorite attractions multiple times. All in all, it was an amazing day filled with thrills, minimal wait times, and outstanding ride operations. I left the park both exhausted and extremely satisfied. I’ll definitely be returning again soon!
We got the Great America season pass with the all park add on. Visit the park for the first time in at least 5 years. Still as I remembered it. Not too much has changed from the last time. The bus ride from the parking lot is a lifesaver since we know we will be walking around the park a lot. The security at the entrance was a quick and fairly high tech, which was nice to see. Most of the rides are fairly quick since there are not of lot of people at the park on a Sunday afternoon. We waited about 30 minutes for Medusa, which was a great ride. Very smooth and super long. Best ride in the park. We got the season drink bottle for $36 which was nice to keep the kids refreshed throughout the day. The animal shows and interactions were quite a nice break from the rides. The whole group had a blast at the park. Great rides and animal exhibits for the whole family.
We visited on a Saturday when the hours were from 11am to 6pm. There was a crowd but the wait times for a majority of the rides averaged 25 minutes prior to 2pm. Sadly, rides like wonder woman and the flash kept having delays but the other rides like Medusa, Kong, Joker ran mostly fine and didn't have terrible wait lines. Having a standard flash pass helped with queue wait times too and isn't as expensive as the other two higher rate flash pass options they offer. If you really want he best bang for your buck, buy an annual pass with meal plan option (~$100 total and includes your entry, parking, meal every 4 hours and each meal is about $20 average like a burger with fries) because after just one visit you've already got your money's worth.
What a mighty park for its size! Good variety of roller coasters and friendly park staff. Lines are long as usual but if you can afford a flash pass it makes the day that much more enjoyable. The cool thing is they have a mini zoo in the back of the park. The animals were so cool to look at and offered a nice change to the loud and hectic front of the park.
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is amazing! We love the roller coasters, especially the Joker — it’s my absolute favorite. They’re all super fun, and even though the lines can be 20–30 minutes long, it’s totally worth the wait. The park is such an awesome place to visit, and the food is great, too. I highly recommend eating at Primos Pizzeria while you’re here — it’s so good! You absolutely have to try the garlic knots; they’re incredible and a must-have for any visit.
