Schenectady Central Park Pool and Spray Park is a popular public aquatic facility located in Schenectady, NY, offering a large swimming pool, diving boards, and a dedicated spray park (splash pad) for children. It serves as a key community resource for recreational swimming and water play during the summer months.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The new public pool facility, which opened Juneteenth 2024, is largely praised for its great pool, dedicated staff, cleanliness, and new amenities like ADA access ramps, restrooms, and a splash pad. Admission is free and open to all, contributing to a sense of safety and convenience for many, especially families with young children. However, significant concerns include the green artificial turf and handrails becoming extremely hot and unbearable in warm weather, posing a burn risk. Some also noted that the pool quickly reached capacity during opening week and expressed disappointment over the city's decision to close pools a week before Labor Day, despite warm weather.

Pool was great, Staff was great.... HOWEVER...the green artificial turf was EXTREMELY HOT, unbearable, in fact. Any child/baby laid on that surface will get third degree burns, for sure 😞 In very warm weather, the handrails are unbearably HOT
Opened Juneteenth 2024. As nice a public pool facility as I can recall encountering. The main pool is large, divided into two large squares that are connected by a narrow section. One square is shallow, suitable for young children. There is also a small wading pool for the youngest. The deeper pool seems to have diving boards and be set up to support lap swimming, although it is mainly open for general swim. Check the website for lap swimming hours. There is a nice splash pad adjacent to the pool. It's hard to gauge how crowded the pool will be over time. During opening week, the pool was quickly reaching capacity, but with the other city pools opening it may be less crowded as summer progresses. Pool has ADA access ramp, new restroom facilities, and outdoor shower to wash off before entry. One adult per party may be required to present identification, but admission is free and open to all regardless of residency. This replaces the old park pool, which was immense and refreshingly chilly but due for reconstruction/replacement. I'll miss the size of the old pool, and the shaded lawn around it, but in all other ways I think this is a fine replacement with many new amenities.
We like the new pool very much. Have been a few times with my young grandson. A nice sized clean pool for children to play and to just get in the water and cool off and get refreshed. Didn't find it too crowded to do that. I like it best because I can walk to it and it's free 👍
Staff are dedicated and awesome. I feel very safe being there and facilities and pool are well kept.
We love this pool I'm putting three stars in hopes someone will see this comment - why did the city choose to close the pools a week before labor day? Normally everything, public beaches splash pads etc all stay open til the end of labor day weekend!! This sucks it's high 80s and so many of us were looking forward to this for the last week of summer before school starts for the kids!
