By and large we really enjoyed our first round here! The greens were much better than I expected based on other reviews I had read. They were receptive, rolled true and didn't have a lot crazy breaks. The fairways were in good shape as were the bunkers (thankfully I was only in a couple of the bunkers). The rough was pretty thick (not suppose to be there any way), but they really could have used some trimming. With all the rain we have in Georgia not cutting back the rough is understandable. The worst part about the course is the cart paths (or lack there of). I understand that paths are an expensive to repair/replacement, but they really do need a lot of work. One of the things I like to see on a course like this is that it was clear that they are investing in making the course better. There was obvious signs that improvement is on going. The staff we interacted with were all nice and the young man working gave us a great lunch recommendation. We definitely we be back.
This is our favorite pool! Well maintained and always clean. Beautiful setting overlooking the lake. Love sitting in a lounger with a book while the kids play. Many wonderful summer memories have been made here.
The course itself is in great shape. The club house is closed for repair. The golf shop has limited gear. People were very friendly. They have hot dogs and a few sandwiches. Ice and drinks. The 3 young men I played with were very nice and fun. Thanks for a great day.
My husband and I had our wedding reception at The Club at Shoal Creek, and it made for the most perfect night. We were able to have a cocktail hour outside on the lawn and the reception in the ballroom and bar. Lisa and Curtis Platte are great to work with. We are so thankful for them and for how hard they worked to make sure we had a wonderful wedding reception!
Terrible fairways and tee boxes. I was informed by one of the employees there that the course was in excellent shape with a new superintendent; this is not the case and I would recommend skipping this course for others in the area that are in much, much better shape. This course and foods are way overpriced for the experience. I felt cheated out of $50 dollars. Also no sand in the muddy bunkers.
