What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for Lifetime Oakbrook present a mixed but generally critical perspective, particularly regarding value for money. Positive feedback highlights the exceptional friendliness and welcoming nature of the staff (e.g., Brandon, Crew, Veronica, Coaches Elliott and Jessie), creating a strong sense of community, especially for Alpha 6AM classes. Hot yoga is consistently praised for its inspiring instructors and the spotless gym environment during early mornings. However, significant concerns are raised about cleanliness, including black mold/mildew in the cold plunge, an unclean and not-hot-enough hot tub, and overall poor shower pressure. Facility temperatures are frequently reported as uncomfortably and potentially dangerously high (74-80.5 degrees). Other negatives include a small and not-hot-enough sauna, a finicky steam room, lack of privacy/handicap stalls in locker rooms, and inconvenient services like coffee access. Spa services, such as Gel-X nails, also received negative feedback for poor quality. Many reviewers felt the high monthly price, especially for upgrades, did not match the perceived quality or luxurious claims, with some even canceling memberships due to these frustrations.

I was in town from MN for two weeks on work and trained at Lifetime Oakbrook. From the moment I walked in, the staff Brandon and Crew was extremely friendly and helpful they welcomed me not only for my workouts but also invited me to join the Alpha 6AM classes, which made my travel experience so much more enjoyable & kept me on track with my workouts. The coaches, members, and staff were all incredibly welcoming to the point where I felt like a regular. It honestly feels sad leaving IL because I’ll miss the community I was able to be a part of here. The facility is clean, upbeat, and truly embodies what a gym experience should be. Special thanks to Coaches Elliott and Jessie for the push, and to the front desk crew—Brandon, Veronica, and the rest of the 6AM team for the positive energy each morning! Having run gyms for 11 years myself, I know what great service looks like, and this team delivered exactly what I would expect from a brand like Lifetime. I was so appreciative of the experience, and when I’m back in IL, I’ll definitely be visiting again. Highly recommend this location for anyone looking for not just a workout, but a community. 💪
The potential of this facility is evident, but the cleanliness does not match the monthly price. There is black mold and mildew growing in the tile grout around the inside of the cold plunge pool, which is quite off-putting! Additionally, the hot tub is not clean nor is hot enough. For a gym that claims to be luxurious, a deep cleaning and sanitization are necessary. The sauna is also too small and not hot enough to accommodate the number of people who use it regularly. The steam room only functions if someone keeps rubbing the sensor to keep it activated, which is inconvenient. On a positive note, the dim lighting and the upgraded tiles and granite in the locker room are a significant improvement over the older Lifetime Fitness locations. The shower heads and water pressure are still poor, like those in the old locations, which is disappointing. The pool is great, featuring a deeper 6-foot area that is nice for swimming laps. Overall, I believe this location is worth the price of the standard Lifetime Fitness memberships, especially since the older locations are way overpriced and lack cleanliness/upgrades. However, I’m uncertain if this location is worth the upgrade price from what I experienced sadly.I expected this place to be better; the online pictures are misleading.
Looks nice on the outside, but on the inside? Not so good. Temperatures ranged from 74 to a dangerous 80.5 degrees on the inside!!! The Lounge was open but unstaffed. I went upstairs to the pool bar to see if I could get coffee just to be told I have to come all the way back downstairs to LifeCafe. There are no privacy or handicap stalls in the locker room unlike my home gym. This was so frustrating that I decided to cancel my membership. My office and home gym may not be as large, but it is cooler, less crowded, is somewhat private, and has everything I need to meet my goals. As for the crazy internal temps, I'm reporting it to the local government for their awareness. I don't know the local ordinances or state laws/regulations, but something tells me this is a safety issue and is probably not up to standard. Crazy to think paying ~ $300/month only gets you this mediocre quality but some of the nicer gyms I've seen are actually much cheaper. : /
I got Gel-X nails done and was really disappointed. They looked okay at first, but within a few days, several started lifting and eventually fell off completely. Definitely not the quality or durability I expected. Won’t be returning. I had to find a salon during my trip to get my nails redone, definitely not worth the price.
Life Time has been my go-to for years, and hot yoga is by far the highlight! The instructors are warm, knowledgeable, and truly inspiring. If you’ve never tried hot yoga, you’re missing out—it’s an absolute must! The gym is always spotless and the early mornings (5–6am) are perfect if you love a calm, uncrowded space.
