What are people saying (AI review summary)? The Alamo pool is described as an unpretentious, somewhat rugged facility. While noted for its strong chlorine smell, cold winter temperatures, difficult-to-adjust showers (either freezing or scalding), and association with homeless individuals, some reviewers find it possesses a unique, character-building charm. It's described as large enough for most aquatic activities with a notable deep end. However, one review states it's never seen open, and another simply calls it 'scary.' A positive point is made about the quality of its trainers.

Just your run of the mill pool here, or is it? Alamo doesn't try too hard to be "fancy" or even "comfortable" nor does it have to! Sure it gets cold in the Winter, smells of chlorine, and practically doubles as a homeless shelter. Deal with it! That just builds character. If you can always manage to finesse that millimeter-wide setting on the shower somewhere between "technically not freezing" and pure steam then you might be able to use the showers at Alamo pool! This diamond in the rough truly has something for everybody; big enough to host most aquatic activities with a deep end that can go toe to toe with the best of em! Yes this nipple-numbing natatorium we call Alamo just might surprise you with its charm if you stick around long enough.
I've never seen the place open. However there is a group of people who come and feed under the bridge on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.
