The YMCA of Greater Dayton - YMCA at the Heights is a comprehensive community facility located in Huber Heights, OH. It offers a wide range of programs and amenities including aquatics, fitness, sports, youth development, and group exercise, serving individuals and families in the area.
The facility features two main pools: an eight-lane lap pool that is typically maintained at a temperature of 80-82 degrees Fahrenheit, and a warm-water pool kept at a warmer 88-90 degrees Fahrenheit, suitable for therapy and family use.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The YMCA receives mixed reviews, with several significant concerns outweighing positive aspects. Major issues include a disturbing incident of child abuse within the child watch program where staff allegedly failed to intervene and refused to provide footage, leading to police involvement. Patrons also frequently report highly inaccurate swimming pool schedules, resulting in wasted time and travel for disrupted sessions due to unannounced events. The youth sports program is consistently criticized for being poorly run, featuring unhelpful staff, unprofessional administration, and poor communication regarding schedules and changes. Additionally, a visitor was disappointed after being denied a day pass. On the positive side, some reviewers praise the YMCA for its great staff, clean facility, natural light, and a popular indoor playground for kids, though shower rooms are noted as needing updates.

DONT BRING YOUR KIDS. The child watch let my child get abused by the other kids. They would not show us the footage so we had to get the police involved. I won’t be adding photos of my son for his safety but he was hit 3 times in the face very visible and the childcare providers acted like they didn’t see anything.
Spoke to a manager to try to purchase a day pass since I’m in town for the day and was denied. I have visited multiple YMCA’s all over the country and this was a disappointing first.
Great YMCA with AWESOME staff!!! Kids love their inside playground. Facility is clean and so much natural lights. Shower room needs to be updated.
This has happened to me thrice at this point and has been a frustrating experience. This location advertises a swimming pool-schedule, based on which I drive 30 minutes to swim at the pool. They have a well-maintained, 6-lane pool. But the frustrating portion of my experience is in their inaccurate scheduling. For example: their schedule would read 3 lanes of lap swim on Saturdays(typically afternoon) and 3 lanes of open swim. But while one is swimming laps you would see an entire swim team ready to swim or some other unannounced event. The lifeguard at this point asks the lapswimmers leave the pool thereby disrupting and inconveniencing a well-planned afternoon. There seems to be zero accountability for this careless and callous treatment of patrons who not only waste their time but fuel and money to be left disappointed in the end. Make no mistake they have a great facility but the management of said facility is anything but.
Very poor youth sports program. The staff is far from helpful. They want you to pay money for them to let kids down. The administration is very unprofessional when it comes to ANY form of communication, from game schedules, not relaying changes in game schedules, when coaches have issues they can't even get in touch with Josh or Chris. All the experiences my son has encountered with the youths program has been awful. I made the mistake of thinking that things could be different waiting a couple years to re-enroll him in YMCA youth sports.
