Family-friendly facility known for its water slide and pool.
The outdoor lap pool at Chimney Park Municipal Pool is heated to 81-82°F (approximately 27-28°C). The leisure pool, designed for more relaxed enjoyment, is maintained at a warmer 84-85°F (approximately 29-29.5°C).
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for Windsor Parks and Rec's pool facilities are notably mixed, ranging from highly positive to critically negative. Many patrons laud it as the 'BEST outdoor public pool in Northern Colorado,' praising its cleanliness, excellent maintenance, abundant shade, spacious layout, and amenities like a water slide, climbing wall, and a dedicated baby pool. Positive feedback also frequently mentions friendly staff, good value family rates, convenient twilight swims, reasonably priced concessions, and even commendations for exceptional customer service (e.g., an honor system for entry during a system outage). However, significant concerns have been raised by other customers, including a serious near-drowning incident during swim lessons where multiple staff members (instructors and lifeguards) reportedly failed to notice a child in distress. Another negative experience describes rude staff interactions and a lack of understanding when a refund was denied for a weather-related closure, exacerbated by the absence of a clear online refund policy. These negative accounts express disappointment in the professionalism and accountability from a city-run program. A minor drawback noted is the lack of private changing rooms.

Took my wife and five kids here today, excited for a fun family outing. When we arrived, the staff was on break, and shortly after that, the facility closed due to rain. The teens at the front told us they’d be closed for at least an hour. Since we never even got in the water and had other plans for the day, we asked for a refund. We were met with rudeness and zero understanding. What’s worse is there’s no clear refund policy posted anywhere online, which is especially frustrating when weather closures are involved. This place is run by the city rec, so we expected a higher standard of professionalism and customer service especially toward families who support local programs. I get that weather can’t be helped, but the lack of communication, accountability, and basic respect for paying families is incredibly disappointing. Do better, Windsor.
BEST outdoor public pool in Northern Colorado, by far. Plenty of shade, great furniture, bathrooms are clean, everything is well maintained. It never feels too busy or over crowded. There’s a large water slide and climbing wall and the pool itself is very spacious. Staff are super friendly, lots of lifeguards, a separate fenced baby pool with their own life guard and large shaded structure. For swim breaks, there’s a huge field of lush green grass in a fenced area for running and playing, better manicured than I would expect for even a regular city park. Their concessions are reasonably priced with some excellent nachos and the young gentleman always are a hoot to listen to as they banter back and forth. One day the pools computer system was down and instead of making people go get cash, they allowed entry based on the honor system to come back and pay when exiting if the system was back up and running. Wow! For working parents who would normally miss out on the pool during the week, they have a twilight swim M-W for three hours in the evenings, even offering stamps for reentry for families who enjoyed the pool in the day and would like to return. $15 rate for a family of 4 is worth every penny. My Mom, living in FL and having grandkids in TX and other areas of CO votes it one of the best outdoor public pools she has been to. The word “magical” has been used more than once. 🤣 only downside is there are no separate private changing rooms, just a larger open space in the bathroom but with benches and plenty of hooks. Way to go Windsor Parks and Rec! Keep up the good work!
Our daughter nearly drowned during one of their swim lessons. Luckily I was being vigilant and ran to her safety. She had two instructors and 2 lifeguards on duty all of them didn’t notice her underwater. I hope this event changes their protocol.
Clean water, lap lanes and friendly staff!
