Public swimming pool located next to a senior center, offering lessons.
The main lap pool at the Oak Ridge Indoor Swimming Pool is generally maintained at approximately 81-82°F (27-28°C). The dedicated therapy pool is kept warmer, typically around 90-92°F (32-33°C).
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews largely focus on the local pool, with significant complaints regarding its 'ridiculous' and 'complex' schedules. Many users found the pool's hours inconvenient and that 'open swim' times were often restricted to lap swimming, making it unsuitable for children's free play. There's a perception that the pool's operations cater primarily to senior citizens. Other negative points about the pool include 'very very cold' water and ineffective baby swim lessons. In contrast, one review provided positive feedback for a local park, praising its 'inventive and great for the imagination' design that children enjoyed.

A clean pool and pool area, maybe because it's rarely open. The hours are absolutely ridiculous 🙄 😒 ......unless you want to keep the pool open for a certain group only, ahem, senior citizens. It is next to The Senior Center, after all. Go figure. Not knocking Senior Citizens, I'm happy they have a place to meet up, swim, exercise, etc. I'm 57, so to some I am one. I'm saying if that's the way the city, or whomever, wants it, just admit it and call it The Senior Center Pool, and be done with it. Personally, I think Oak Ridge needs to try to draw some younger people in, but that's another rant for another day. ✌️
Definitely not a good place to take kids to play for free swim. Even though it was during "open swim" it was only people swimming laps, so we just had to stay in one lane. We didn't even stay an hour :( I'm not sure if it was just the day we were there, but the water was very very cold.
I grew up in Oak Ridge but now live in Mascot. I was visiting family and my daughter asked to go to the park when we got home. I decided to take her to one of my favorite parks growing up and she loved it. It is so different now. Very inventive and great for the imagination!!
They have a complex schedule that works in no ones favor, but their own. I went to swim, and it was only open lap. No one was even there to do any laps. It was essentially deserted, and not even lit up in there. They could open the pool up for free swim and half for lap swim, but no, they choose to have it closed off for open lap. That was a 45 min trip for nothing.
Don't waste your money on baby swim lessons. They will only have you bounce up and down in the pool for 30 mins then get out.
